My case was similar. Bought one crappy, cheap ‘73 Pinto to drive, and it’s twin for parts to repair my broken down ‘74 Pinto (yea, I had a Pinto obsession as a teen...). Ended up driving both for a while until I finally parted the second ‘73 out.

I got pulled over once for having a “Ford Racing” vanity plate on the front of my car. A Grand Marquis, no less :).

I saw a shitty beat up mid ‘00s Sedan DeVille the other day with NO headlights... just sheet aluminum flashing covering the holes and attached to each piece of aluminum sheet was some sort of craptastic LED light clusters of some sort. Yikes.
