There is absolutely no reason to release another tablet, Android or otherwise unless the price point more than trumps the iPad. With a UI that at least matches the iPad's slick intuitive UI. Sadly Android is shareware beta slick.

Very nice. Didn't think MS had it in them. Out of all the tablet OS'es that are not from Apple, I think this one so far is the winner. Add an inexpensive tablet version of Office, native x-box, kinect and Skype baked in and we have a winner.

As much as we need competition in this field, and as much as I am rooting for this device, I have yet to see any reason to purchase this over the iPad or Android tabs.

Well, the internet does make it much too easy for just anyone to post an opinion. How can you corral and homogenize thought like that?

Yep.

They are doing good. That's all that matters. The fanboys are the ones that don't matter. Nobody listens to them anyway. Well it's hard to avoid them, but they are annoying and insignificant just the same.

I still don't get what the Apple vs Android fanboy circle-jerks are about. I just think it's cool seeing American companies doing so well. Whether it be Apple, Google, IBM, or Intel.

My heart sinks a little every time I see the politicians running our nation. I need to carry a spatula around sometimes to scrape it off the floor.

Holding a book as as difficult as holding an iPad. How did some of you ever get along without your laptop if it is so difficult for you?

I will get the cheapest version. Not for any good reason other than nostalgia. I think it looks trashy adorable.

I still own a Blackberry. Holding out for iPhone 5 on Verizon, but I do like what I have seen of WP7. The UI looks real nice.

Why would one device kill another? I don't know, ask Tom Tom about their dedicated GPS navigation systems.

I guarantee you it will. It's called economy of scale.

This is not in reply to just this response, but to all.

Game consoles are walking dead. It is only a matter of a year or two before tablets do them in.

I have always imagined, 7" tablet devices as cool hubs to third party peripherals. Like nice camera lenses that just snapped on and harnessed the os and tab innards to input the data directly without having to then upload to another device for consumption and distribution.

.

End of era for MS.

A 5-6" ipod touch would blow up if is is released this fall.

I think Nokia made a sensible choice for the day. They put themselves in a difficult situation. MS has just as deep pockets as Google, but MS could focus their attention closer to them. Each needs each other. I Am not yet sure if this is symbiotic or parasitic, but in the end only one will survive in the phone biz non
