This police brutality shit makes my blood boil like almost nothing else can.

I have no idea why this is so difficult for you to understand. A higher education degree currently sells for $10,000 to $50,000 per year. If they weren’t playing football, that’s the price these athletes would be paying for this education. You can’t say to a football player that his education is somehow worth more

This is absolutely not true. We have a market for higher education in this country. It sells for somewhere between $10,000 and $50,000 per year. If it were worth more than that, then private universities would be selling it for more than that. But it’s not.

Why in the world do you think this makes sense? If your employer required you to attend expensive classes as a condition of your employer, you know damn well that you would in return demand that he pay for them and pay you for the time you spent in class and studying for class.

No. No one pretends that scholarships have no value. We just say that the value of the scholarships is nowhere near commensurate with the value of their labor. They are SEVERELY underpaid.

Uh, all three of UCLA’s losses last year were at the Rose Bowl.

Arizona does not meet Oregon in the regular season. They could only possibly meet in the Pac-12 Championship. They will certainly not have to beat the Ducks twice to make the playoffs.

Is the “half anaconda and half great white” line better or worse than the e-cigarettes are “like sucking a robot’s dick” line?

This is absolutely wrong. Black enfranchisement was at a peak in the latter half of the 19th century after the Civil War. In Texas, for example, there were more than 100,000 black voters in the 1890s. Then, in yet another of a long line of mistakes the North made, the army loosened its control of the erstwhile

The people at Gawker did a hell of a thing when they hired Greg Howard to write for them, and I am sure I’m not the only one who is thankful they did.

Two-thirds of the population of California lives either in the Greater Los Angeles area or the San Francisco Bay area. I fail to see why all those people should have to ensure that this corridor also benefits the relatively measly populations of Fresno and Bakersfield.

The myth that salary caps ensure competitive balance in professional sports leagues needs to die a horrific death. Frankly, I’m surprised that refreshingly labor-friendly Deadspin hasn’t exposed that myth yet.

There’s always one of you in the comments of every Westbrook story. What a valuable service you provide.

You don't understand. The author was not referring to teams' competitiveness on the field, but to the fact that the teams LITERALLY DO NOT COMPETE WITH EACH OTHER when pursuing labor.

This is a good time to link to Drew Magary's famous vacuum review:

You're absolutely right. I said "all" but I really should have said "more"—that only three (by my count) high school players have chosen this route so far is what's shocking.

I'm sure the $1.2 million contract that Mudiay got influenced his decision, as well.

I was watching this match and the Arsenal match on espn3.com, if it helps.

It looks to me like the dark box is not where the strike zone is supposed to be but instead is where the strike zone is today, and it is an overlay on the 2009 chart to make the differences more stark.

What you described in the last paragraph would be a strike, not a lockout.
