If you're freaked out to bring a gun down with you to the door in the first place you should be freaked out enough to CALL THE FUCKING COPS and wait, away from the door, with your gun if you must, for help to arrive.

I feel like that the fact he shot her in the face from two feet away kind of takes away from his defense of him being panicky. If she was that drunk, he could be nervous, but he could have also never have opened the door.

If he was trying to rev his engine to scare or intimidate pedestrians to move, then he was being a reckless asshole. How about you tell your friend that a reasonable person can wait a few seconds instead of being an asshole and playing around with a multiple ton vehicle capable of rending flesh and snuffing out lives

Revving an engine to encourage people to cross more quickly is both intentional and reckless.

You know who doesn't have to live with it for the rest of her life? The woman he killed, because hers is over. He killed a human being because he was being a reckless asshole who couldn't slow down two seconds to let pedestrians cross, and he belongs in prison. Most of us have to face the consequences of our mistakes.

That one was so gross, with half the comments being "I'm <non-white identity> so it's not racist when I say ASIAN STEREOTYPES ARE TRUE LOL". I just don't get how people can be like that, "all stereotypes about groups I belong to are false, but all stereotypes about OTHERS are true".

Some of the worse racism I've seen on Jez has been when we try to discuss issues related to folks of the Asian diaspora. The last post I read about the cartoonist who wrote about yellow fever got so vicious it was triggering. What gives?

Hah.

As if I can't possibly be interested or care about the feelings and well-being of others.

My wife is Asian-American, so guess what? I have a horse in this race as this affects her and any children we might have in the future.

Thanks Ari! BTW, can I have some of your eyes?

Fine, I'm from Beijing, and I concur with the above.

Hey, woah, American media being generally shitty about Asian culture and people in general?

This is an entertainment-wide issue, but between this and Two Broke Girls, isn't CBS in enough trouble for their portrayal of Asians as it is? Having Lucy Liu on Elementary doesn't mean you can get crazy, CBS.

God...I remember how common that was in college. Some asshole revving the engine to scare people crossing the street. And in my college, one guy did the same thing with accidentally hitting the gas instead of the brake. The victim survived, but his legs were essentially titanium after being crushed, and I'm sure he's

He was charged with negligent homicide; he pleaded to two infractions, traveling too fast and unsafe starting. I'm not even kidding.

I swear to god, I almost can't even focus right now that makes me so angry. It's not as if he didn't see them, or the tire slid on a patch of ice and Edward Cullen wasn't around, or they jumped in front of him, he killed someone because he was being an asshole. There's no accelerated rehabilitation for that.

And he'll probably be a Senator in 15 years.

His alternative option: wait.
