Reminds me of the last time I drove through Detroit, total ghost town. I’ve never dared to stop in Gary though and. Chicago side streets still scare me.

It’s interesting the ways cars are engineered. In the city my Camaro gets 12-16L/100km but yesterday I took a 150km road trip and was happy to see I was got an average of 10. My car is happy going fast but is highly inefficient when going slow.

Thanks for the positive reply. I try to keep an open mind when it comes to others styles and preferences too, and see things for all perspectives. Still, I will defend and provide evidence to my reasoning when I feel like I have something to share- which is why I love this site!

I’m going to have to disagree as well. I’ve had my soft top Z4 since 2009 and have taken in on a road trip across the lower 48 every summer until 2019. I usually have to top up but those moments driving through the giant redwoods, the forests of the UP or looking at up at the stars and sky in the desert night it is a

Z4 is always the answer!

While that article was interesting in its own way I totally fell down the rabbit hole of the only original Model AA and how it came to be a kind of Mad Max styled farm car. I would love to learn even more about the original but only went digging for 10 minutes or so… if only there was a car website to do all that hard

In some ways I can relate to not fitting in, but I would say embrace. What better than going to a fancy place than wearing an outfit from goodwill that still looks good?

I’ve been a fan of them since the late 00’s and my ska band even covered one of their least ska of songs- How Low. Our drummer sang lead when we played that one. The two of us saw Against Me! play in Grand Rapids Michigan a few years ago and the only thing that let us down is they didn’t perform How Low, we still sang

I have to admit, I never once took and form of driver’s ed, so I have nothing to share...

I actually have an extra Z4 weatherstrip laying around, mine cracked too. However, before I got around to using it I replaced the whole windshield and it came with a new strip… anyway that car is perfect except for the loss of ABS, traction control, tire pressure monitor and airbags- but who needs those things? I

I’ve never been good at naming things but my wife names everything. She calls our Z4 “Speed-o” because as soon as she get on the highway she has a habit of ignoring the speed limit. I think she is making up for the the suffering she induces getting it out of first gear… at least she can drive a manual and likes cars!

Part of me does miss that car a tiny, tiny bit.

My first car was a new off the lot 2007 Hyundai Tiburon, 2L with a 4 speed auto. The looks and handling (after big brakes, wide sticky tires and a strut bar) were quite good but under the hood was a joke and every mod I did was money not well spent.

As I have lived in China most of my life, I feel like I need to nominate a local brand. Geely and BYD cars are pretty bad, and there a ton of new up and coming brands that have attracted a lot of attention, but I like old school.

I wanted to mention Cake in my comment, but I felt like I had enough callouts. Also out of all the music I listen to, Cake is the one band my wife dislikes. I honestly have no idea why she can’t stand them, they are so musically diverse, I always assumed that they has something for everyone.

That reminds me when I was (much) younger my friends and I were skateboarding in a parking lot in a very small and conservative mid-western town when a pickup truck absolutely crammed with sweaty bros slowed down to call us fags.

I can always listen to Mike Ness when I’m driving. I especially love listening to his solo albums when road tripping in the American West. Older Social Distortion is good when on the road in the mornings. That being said, one the first songs I listened to after I bought my Camaro was Five Iron Frenzy’s song Phantom

Here is a photo I took. The one they used is just a staged photo. The security guards are usually too busy goofing off or on their phones to actually do any enforcing. The guards at every building are issued the same equipment and it usually just collects dust. I remember watching the guards at my school on training

I can’t believe it’s already been 2 years. I live just a few blocks away and go to see the spectacle every time. I’m sad there won’t be one this year, but won’t miss the crazy traffic it brings.

I shouldn’t forget my wife’s Jetta, she loves it, and I love to embarrass her so I decorate it every winter.
