The only time defensive pass interference is half the distance in college is when the play starts at or inside the 2 (or on a 2-point attempt from the 3).

Actually, the cool-ass monkey wasn’t at the same tournament. It was at the PGA Tour event in Mexico.

Indy wasn’t charged a timeout. However, the NFL has moronic timing rules: in the last couple of minutes before the two-minute warning, a foul by either team causes the clock to stop until the next snap, even if the penalty is declined.

Unless Deadspin’s stats department knows something that Fox’s doesn’t, there were four missed one-pointers in that span, not three.

As a lymphoma survivor myself, I must say... thanks for the laugh.

No hit can be awarded if any runner is retired before reaching a base to which he is forced. Marte reaches on a fielder’s choice, 9-6.

And is that a burning cross behind it?

Note that there are two asterisks there and a link above. Clicking and scrolling would then show you:

Counter-counterpoint: If you're at a Kings/Hornets game in March, you kinda deserve to get hit in the face with a basketball.

My biggest question:

I disagree strongly. It's a great teaching moment: Don't just do the obvious; see if there's something counter-intuitive you can try that might lead to a better result. That's something that will serve a person well in life, and most don't seem to learn it.

Nah, if the NCAA has the authority to say, "Please pretend these wins never happened", they have just as much authority to say, "OK, you can stop pretending now".

What point does this decision even serve? Well, let's look at the facts. The NCAA was being sued by Pennsylvania over some of the sanctions, and this was set to go to trial next month. With that date approaching, the NCAA agreed to a settlement including nearly all of what the plaintiffs were seeking.

Come to think of it, I had a very similar response to learning that much of the discomfort of pain comes from stress, rather than the actual pain signals. Thinking about that whenever I stub my toe makes the pain bearable much sooner than it would have been otherwise.

"any intentionally missed shot that leads directly to a three-point field goal."

This almost perfectly describes my experience, as well. After hearing that, I tried tickling myself and just got confused. Afterward, I was much less ticklish. I thought I'd just grown out of it or something.
