We should be fine.
We should be fine.
Should we though? Here and Giz are about the last ones standing, and hopes are not high from an end user perspective.
You recognize that thousands of people will be effected in some way through their job security?
I35 bridge in MSP, it wasn’t done overnight but still impressively fast to investigate, demolish, remove, and rebuild in around a year. Several barge cranes and an army of people with cutting torches will likely get it cleared surprisingly quickly, rebuild would be a separate story but not as likely to impede commerce.
It’s clearly people gunning to get a Tik-Tok ASAP of the bridge collapse from up close. I’d argue an even more odious brand of idiot than one who is simply trying to go around barricades to get where they (think they are) going.
There was a Press Conference held by Gov. Wes Moore confirming that the Bridge Crew issued a May Day due to a power failure.
Forget it Jake, it’s Kinjatown.
Well, it would be the parts extending well out of both sides of the frame also collapsing.
Sounds like it was being captained by a port pilot, so I don’t think it was an issue of navigation familiarity. Details are popping up here and there but a sudden loss of ship power / steer is a strong possibility.
Can’t speak to the accuracy of the data, purple represents the approved path.
Amazon’s distribution center is just inside the collapsed area along with CSX’s facility. I expect that the disruption will become more detectable in the system by week’s end.
Almost all shipping into the US is foreign-flagged. Singapore would not be first on my list of flags to worry about. In a relative way, the US merchant fleet is almost non-existent.
My understanding is that the ship lost power several times prior to the collision and essentially drifted into the support.
This is a breaking story
It’s still unclear how many people where on the bridge (were)
The Dali is something like 960 feet long, and being a container ship it’s a chunky 960 feet. I don’t know that there are many (or any) bridges in the world that could have survived this collision.
The funny one I saw was complaining that Biden’s infrastructure bill did nothing to keep this from happening, like all the money in the world was gonna reinforce a bridge against a damn cargo ship running into it.
The videos do not do justice as to how large this bridge is. It’s just that the damn ship is so damn huge.
Isn’t Jurassic Park still booting? What’s a reboot? Different dinosaurs? Different park? Will there be a DINOSAUR WAR? If they call it DINOSAUR WAUR I will be there. Maybe. Okay. Probably not.
Heynow, acting in a crap franchise that only had one good movie bought Michael Caine a house!
