Are they? I think whenever an article praises a mainstream artist there's always a ton of negative comments for the mere fact that said artist or band is mainstream

I'm aware this is a subject dear to my heart but, as a counterpoint, I was also a big fan of 311. From "Down" to "Amber" to their cover of The Cure's "Lovesong". We can appreciate guys' band and girls' band people, it's ok

Full disclosure: Garbage will be performing 2 concerts here in London next month to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their self-titled album and I got tickets. Yeah, Garbage may not be as influential as Pavement but, at the same time, I cannot find many people these days that can sing a Pavement song lyric-by-lyric.

What about "Let Me Blow Ya Mind" with Eve? She was never as hotter as she was in the video

It's a bit of a nonsense song but from what I could gather is about a girl being harassed or hearing gossip about her being told by overconfident, cocky guys. Imagine a girl who's confident in her style and sexuality who doesn't give the time of the day to the most popular guys in school. "I hear that you were

Well Macho Man, I'm proud to say I owned "Adore" by the Smashing Pumpkins, "What's The Story Morning Glory?" by Oasis, "Urban Hymns" by The Verve…and "Tragic Kingdom" by No Doubt. I was never into dismissing a band just because there was a front woman, I was also a massive fan of Garbage

If they did thank Thor for that

Years of internet surfing ("surfing", that's how old I am) and I still haven't learned a single thing: every time an article like this is posted what follows is: "No Doubt is shit, XXXXX band FTW" or whatever inane thing people wanna post. "Yeah man I KNOW what was cool back then"". And by cool you mean something

I'd expect nothing less from Macho Man Randy Savage. Let me guess: you were into Rancid right?

In all fairness Just A Girl was never one of my favourite tracks by No Doubt. I can understand that it might have a different meaning for, you know, an actual teenage girl at the time but Hollaback Girl is a much better song

Hey! I was also into Paula Cole at that time…not the Dawson's Creek song, which was overkill, but Where Have All The Cowboys Gone and Me. And, shoot me I don't care, I was also massively into Sunny Came Home by Shawn Colvin. Sarah MacLachlan was ok but I never bought any of her albums.

Whenever the subject comes to pop culture I always ask the same question: "Ok, you don't like X so what do you like?" So I don't know where you're coming from but Hollaback Girl is a pretty fucking good pop song, with an even better video, and if you don't like it it probably has more to do with your own personal

I did become a fan of No Doubt when I first saw Spiderwebs on MTV. I was never into ska but there was something different there and Gwen had charisma by the truckloads. Being a teenager I was obviously into Don't Speak as well, although I cringe a bit at the beyond-literal lyrics nowadays. Excuse Me Mr. took a while

I agree completely…when I stop to think how many hours of the year we dedicate to our jobs x idle time or time spent with friends and family I feel this awful existential angst.

I've been enjoying some Shadowrun Director's Cut and I'm torn between picking up the PS4 version of Wastelands 2 or wait until Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition.

I can understand artists like Joanna complaining, since she's not a millionaire by any chance (Andy's probably the breadwinner). What annoys me is when long-established musicians, with millions of dollars in their bank accounts, still complain.

Yeah I don't consider her a genius in any way, she still has a lot to prove but c'mon, as far as women comedians are concerned who else do we have? Kathy Griffin? Chelsea Handler? Lisa Lampanelli? Slim pickings out there, at least Amy has charisma, great comedic timing and she's definitely not afraid to try out some

The upcoming backlash against Amy Schumer (which is unmistakably obvious from this quite cynical review) was bound to happen because, guess what? She's a woman. I'm a guy but c'mon, that's crystal clear: Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, picky any stand-up comedian that became global celebrities…they never experienced any

Ok thanks, I'll give it a try. If it's a straight-up rom-com then I'm definitely out (although I did enjoy Mad About You back in the day)

Years of reading snarky comments online have provided me with enough insight into reading-between-the-lines. The guy says "fallen on hard times" and follows it with a mention of Fast Times. And honestly, Fast Times might have been important at the time but it's not better than Almost Famous, not even by a long shot.
