I thought you were joking until I googled it and read the whole debacle. I wish all celebrity beefs involved hipster restaurants and anti-capitalist ethos.

It's weird that there was a time in my life where conversations about music occasionally veered into conversations about KMFDM. That never, ever happens anymore.
I went to see Reel Big Fish a few years ago, and it was the least pretentious, most fun show I've ever been to. There's something to be said for (third wave) ska's general lack of cynicism.
I was so excited when Refused reunited, then when At the Drive-In reunited, and now Jawbreaker, but like…I live in rural Canada. Why do I get excited about the reuniting of bands I'll still never see? Ah, well, I'll just be happy for everyone who does.
Yeah, I probably would have just chalked her up to being a 'whatever' actress if it hadn't been for Adventureland. I also don't suspect that Adventureland was an overly demanding role, but she did nail it, so, that's good.
Totally agreed! The Taking of Deborah Logan is actually my favorite recent horror film, and I love the Insidious series, so I'm totally for this!
I haven't re-read Trainspotting since like 2000, does it hold up well? I'd also never bothered reading Porno because it seemed unnecessary. Is it worth the read?
K but I would actually love to see that.
One thing that I love about Japanese ghosts is that they're given full license to just be evil and impossible to be appease. I feel like a lot of Western ghost stories are like "maybe we can help them" and it's fun when nope.
This is especially the case with Buddhism, and why there's a broad misconception that Buddhism is inherently and/or inextricably irreligious.
Cleaning is the best for not feeling things.
I could never hate a band that gave us "Nightswimming".
Hoooly shit I forgot about Sebadoh
Thanks for the added context, I would never have known any of that!
Hey, congrats! It feels so good to get to that point with yourself. I find it really challenging when you're not in the same headspace as friends and peers; a lot of my friends are doing the same thing they were doing ten years ago (binge drinking and trying to impress people, mostly) and I just really can't pretend…
It's interesting that we've been celebrating youth since the 1960s, but youth culture itself emerged in the 1950s and essentially grew alongside rock and roll. I don't think it was exactly celebrated until the next decade, but an interesting contrast nonetheless.
Huh, I wonder if that's why being a 20-something can be filled with such painful growth (my twenties were kind of rough, anyway). I felt a lot of compulsion to just adult properly during that time but without a lot of emotional/psychological resources to do so - I needed to gain wisdom and regret from that time to get…
Maybe The Apartment, in that the characters played by Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine both deal with situations that take them from their burgeoning adulthood into full-flung adulthood. They're forced to contend with situations and consequences related to their careers that test their morals and integrity and shape…
I like them because I find their music simultaneously enjoyable and easy to ignore. It's great for background while I'm at work.
Yeah, but up until Mercutio dies it's basically a comedy because Mercutio was the heart of the whole thing and I love this play and am going to go cry now.
