I enjoy The Grand Tour, and both shows are scripted. I hope both continue. Competition = good.

That is kind of sad-this is really sad

While US freight railroads did experiment with horsepower ratings of 6000 in the mid ‘90's on diesel electric locomotives, all locomotives today have settled in at about 4500 horsepower. Those 6000 HP monsters have either been retired, exported or derated to 4500 horsepower.

That whole “storage” thing is just a ruse. The real reason why the choo-choo is held up in the desert?

Uh, yeah. Most diesel-electrics are rated around 5-7K horsepower per unit.

Why would you want to persistently work with a dealer who won’t answer a simple request? Your time is better spent finding a dealer who actually wants to work with you, because a dealer who won’t give a simple quote by email clearly doesn’t want to go out of its way for you.

Thats when you email back and say that you can’t come in to get a price quote on privacy concerns. Once they have seen your face they know who you are and can leverage that information to their advantage and that you aren’t falling for their ruse.
