a $500 mercedes that I probably shouldn’t have driven home. I was coming up to a stoplight and the brake pedal went straight to the floor. I was able to pump it and get enough pressure, but I was already through the intersection. Leaky MC seals plus air in the lines = not good.

It’s clean, but seems overpriced for a 2wd 4cyl model. That price in the northeast gets a decent 6cyl 4wd, maybe not quite as clean but 4k will get you out of the “rust bucket” group at least.

Inspect those leaf spring shackles. They are the first to go (and a massive PITA to replace usually)

Unfortunately tons of them have been crushed as they had a campaign to get rid of the “vochos” a few years back, cash for clunkers style. Those taxis accounted for a lot of the beetles in Mexico — I’m sure there are private ones around, but the Taxis made up a pretty good chunk of them. I can’t seem to find the %

It hasn’t really been about cars for a long time. I enjoy their candor and entertainment. I don’t expect it to be on the same level as James may talking about rebuilding a bicycle...come on. Apples and Oranges. It sounds like Erik just had different expectations.

Takes about 5 minutes to get used to it. I appreciate that though, because that means more weird cars for me and less for everyone else who thinks RHD is a non-starter.

Yeah my Saturn Sky is within about 100lbs of the BRZ now and has 260hp stock (and 245s all around). Lacks the low center of gravity of a boxer engine, but it’s also 13 years old now...I think a big selling point of the NA engine is it’s linear power curve, vs rather flat power curves of modern turbo engines. I’d still

The Banglebacks -- I thought they were hideous new, but the design really has aged gracefully. The E90 is perhaps one of the nicest looking sedans in the last 15 years

So Orlando gets a flying car hub. Awesome! Where are the flying cars supposed to...you know...fly to? Another hub that doesn’t exist? Are people just expected to return to the hub after a nice little flight?

The Banglebacks have aged well, they have really grown on me. That 5 series GT? Buzz...woof.

And lets not forget the 90(?)-93(?) Buick Riviera, which is also a notchback! The old seville was the best though. I would love to rock a slammed and chopped seville if i lived someplace warm.

ND, not even close. It’s a respray (and the former color was actually quite nice). For being claimed as clean, unmolested, etc...it has facelift hood and facelift headlights from later w124s, obviously the body kit (which looks okay, but questionable fitment) and of course the respray. Those speaker housings are

Exactly what I was thinking. This would be a great gambler car or ridiculous rallyx car (albeit doubtful to be competitive). You might be able to sell those light bars and make a few bucks back too, those things are expensive...assuming you wouldn’t get into any weird trouble for doing so.

If top down fun and budget are a concern, allow me to direct you to the saturn sky redline and solstice GXP. They’re very quick out of the box, and engine extremely tunable for power. If you can live with the late 00s GM interior and lack of trunk space (cockpit is a bit tight too, but I imagine if a Fit is good,

Those concepts would have been even better if they were built and/or extended the life of the Kappa platform. Typical GM.

Honda’s IMA system was available in manuals (as someone else also handily pointed out above) -- it was a pretty mild hybrid system but it was effective for high mileage. IIRC there wasn’t any electric-only mode but battery and motor tech have come a lonnnnnng way in the last 15 years. I still like the CRZ but (other

snark aside, I’ll chip in that I’ve been mostly hooked on multi-class endurance racing (IMSA, WEC, etc) and they are super exciting to see in person due to the wide variety of cars and engines. Growing up, I watched a lot of nascar with my dad and brother. Now it is boring af and the rules/politics of the whole thing

Yes.
