Actually, the question was The Answer.

Did it seem that NESN’s announcers weren’t very impressed by this? He threw a ball 300’ on a line with no bounces. This is a true feat of strength. There was zero excitement in their voices.
Not positive that college has the same rules as the NFL on this, but his forward progress was stopped before he stepped out. Obviously the clock would immediately stop for the first down, but the clock would start on the ready to play signal, and I am pretty sure it would have expired before they could snap it.
Obviously the altered ball has affected power league wide, but here is a question that my buddy brought up over the weekend: why is the league leader in home runs only at 47 right now? About half the teams in the league are going to set records for single season homers, yet there is no way Alonso or Trout is going to…
No mention of him being a 2 sport athlete, throwing with both hands, losing a ton of weight, and becoming the first guy since JC himself to come back from the dead?
Also, his career winning percentage was .517. Not exactly going out there and decimating teams every night. He probably should have shifted more.
That is exactly who I was thinking of, lol.
1960* There is that damn asterisk again!
Just went and looked at his career numbers. I too definitely assumed he was in the hall, but his stats are merely above average, even for the era. His homers spiked by about 30 in 1969, and then dropped back down the next year. If this was today, he would definitely be accused of juicing.
But he’s.... but he’s.... but he’s...... white.
And the DH coming to the NL. Makes the likelihood of things like this happening way less.
Doc and Darryl were my heroes (great choices!) during my formative years as a baseball fan. This makes me so sad. I really hope Doc can finally win this one.
I say this all the time: you can be suspended in the NFL or NHL for a vicious head shot, especially one that results in a knockout. In UFC and boxing , that’s the goal. How is this still ok?
My wife would be one of those girls (Cries softly into a golf towel)
I thought of this immediately. To Chris’ comment below, I do agree that management and ownership has been trying to artificially fix salaries, but I never thought Harper was worth it. He has had two really good years, and the rest of his season have been above average at best. That is not a 300 million dollar baseball…
People that aren’t subjected to Mike on a nearly daily basis will have no idea how spot on this is. +1. Back after this.
Maybe Jimenez shouldn’t have been in the 2-3 zone.
You know the one part of this I don’t get? There are 30 owners, and some of them actually care about winning. Is it possible that they just don’t think that Machado and especially Harper are worth this money? I don’t think this would be happening if Trout was out there, or a healthy Bumgarner. I kind of find it hard…
