Ah, the 928: the car that can smell fear!
Ah, the 928: the car that can smell fear!
I DD the fuck out of my pristine C5 and wouldn't want it any other way. Great fuel economy, reliable, cheap to insure, tons of room under the hatch, and it rides surprisingly well (even my Z51).
I maintain that you can make a missile as reliable as a "ground-up-people-carrier" through vigorous component testing and inspection. That adds immensely to costs and build time, of course, but it's an easy way to throw money at a non human-rated machine and make it more human-rated... which is exactly how they did…
Damnit! I meant Delta IV Heavy! You got me!
I wasn't a rocket guy either, just a wind tunnel jock at Ames :)
I debated on whether or not to feed this troll, but what the hell:
We need to remember the huge difference in quality control between "human-rated" and "non-human-rated" rockets too. Now I know, the EFT-1 Orion was flying on the non-human-rated Titan IV Heavy (which is awesome by itself), but when the Orion carries 'Murica back to the stars in a few years, it's going to be riding on…
This is how space flight is done. One step at a time. The American public is so skittish that if a crew is killed when an unmanned machine would have sufficed, there will be a great risk of broad cancellation of the rest of the program. This saddens me, as this risk averse attitude hampers our ability to maximize…
Jack Roush has crashed 2 planes. One of them was even a goddamn jet!

Y U NO HAVE C5 CORVETTE ON LIST
Your physics are sound. Gravity doesn't care if it's a car or a semi. I'm betting the limiting factor is how well the thing holds up to a hard landing!
Those people don't love 'Murica. I hope they stay at home and quit whining. Pansies.

Hub-mounted electric motors are a bad thing. Un-sprung weight is always the wrong answer to everything. But don't take my word for it, ask your friendly neighborhood vehicle dynamicist...
Among those features are the 3-litre OM617 diesel five, which has 87-horses and a reputation for longevity that rivals Aerosmith's career. Backing that up is a five-speed manual, another option currently AWOL from the contemporary G-wagon's option list.
I don't understand this comment...
I see what you did there...
