No, there IS something wrong with a county map being used to represent a city and it is NOT accurate and I'm sure every man, woman, and herd animal in Ortonville would agree (as would the people of Detroit if they could find Ortonville on a map). One cannot just arbitrarily say that every county that get's anywhere

That map is all sorts of wrong. Some lazy cockmaster just picked the counties closest to Detroit and called them the Metro Area. Ortonville is a farming community way outside the sprawl. I mean WAAAY outside. And South Lyon isn't much better. By this map's logic, Oakland and San Francisco are one and the same.

I couldn't agree more. I love seeing the Mighty Mac in mist, fog, or snow. Nothing it more "Michigan" than that!

It was a cold day on the set?

I looked at these photos and I still hate the Porsche Marinara.

I'll believe it when I see it. I don't think they don't have the gumption to plop down the cash necessary to do that.

Yeah, that's pretty much a constant battle. We're such a small part of the national budget, but our visibility is so high that we make an easy target for politicians that want to say "Look! I saved the American taxpayer 2 million bucks!" Which is probably the monthly toilet paper budget at the IRS...

The first stage has Russian engines, but the whole machine has not been human rated. That validation process is... lengthy, to say the least.

One problem: the Atlas launch vehicle isn't human rated. The notoriously risk-averse NASA will never fly a human on a rocket that isn't.

It's hard to tell, but this is a pic I snapped of Monster Tajima passing me at Pikes Peak, doing a bit over 100 mph last year. He is exiting a fast right hander and setting up for another fast right on his way to Engineer's Corner. If I held my hand out, I could have high-fived his GoPro right off the left fender!

Welcome aboard!

But I like the past! It's so shiny!

Hey!

Kinda anticlimactic. I was really hoping for a historically significant job, like the Martini or Gulf livery. I guess I'll just have to live in the now

Car related-ish: the Eruption of Mount Edgecumbe. Some guy started a huge tire fire on a mountain to scare people into thinking it was a volcanic eruption. Epic.

I hear ya. I guess to me cars are so heavy and numb these days (even the good ones) that I've given up on having fun in them. I just think of them as appliances, and it sounds like this is pretty good at that. My dream garage has an appliance (practical and drama-free) and a toy (something old, with character, not

That's a pretty handsome little hatch. Good proportions, probably rides and handles well (since most VWs do), and is that a quasi-Hofmeister Kink I detect? Fascinating...

I know, right! That was some Final Destination stuff right there!

Now playing

This seems like an appropriate place to leave the "Oh Kurwa" crash. Skip to about 0:15:

Unfortunately, you're 100% wrong about the GT90 engine having anything to do with the Duratec family. It was a 90 degree engine that was literally made from cutting 2 Lincoln Mark VIII engines up and laser welding them together. Ditto for the heads. Not one piece of Duratec architecture is in this motor. But then
