Mine too. I'm from Knopfler's hometown, and that song makes me feel homesick even when I'm at home.

I like the James Dean Bradfield solo at the end of Archives Of Pain.

Well, I picked it too.

I just mentioned Tunnel Of Love and Telegraph Road.

I picked Candy's Room. The live version especially.

Dunno if you know this, but sitting in the window watching a huge storm roll in, everyone on the street running for shelter, was what gave him the idea for the song.

A couple of minimalist favourites: Springsteen in Jungleland and John Fogerty in Born On The Bayou. Springsteen also in Candy's Room.
Stretching out a bit, Mark Knopfler in Tunnel Of Love and Telegraph Road, Eric Clapton in Crossroads, John Squire in I Am The Resurrection.

Great Rod Stewart album. Jeez, what a waste.

The Doors. I know their standing may have taken a hit, for whatever reason, but listen to Morrison Hotel and you get a tight, gritty, wholly convincing blues rock band. Morrison could sing pretty much anything, too.

When Thatcher died, the right were very quick to proffer eulogies that shored up their current sickening agendas. A corrective to that is welcome.

I sometimes troll them. I just called James Delingpole a skeletal bell-end.

He called George W Bush a 'baffled creep'. Perfect.

Anything that keeps him away from England.

I forgot When The Levee Breaks. Don't know how, but I did.

I saw it a few weeks ago. I wasn't a great fan of her work before, but you're right, it was a fantastic performance. It would be a fairly humdrum film without her, I think.

The flashback is the highpoint of the entire series, I reckon. *spits on ground*

Another John O' Farrell history book, this one a look at modern Britain from the end of WWII to the 2008 crash. Jokes and other quips to make it go down easier.
