Will you ever even see this? Does Kinja give notifications for replies? I haven’t gotten any yet so I still don’t know.

Yeah, like the Peking Opera training. I heard either Jackie Chan or Sammo Hung say that how they trained would be considered abuse today. I think of it more as a time thing than an East/West thing. But I do know that whacking people in the head is still part of Zen Buddhism, so I may be off with that.

They definitely needed more flashbacks. It would have helped with establishing Davos as well.

The problem with this is that the show (Iron Fist) doesn’t take Danny this way. It treats him as if he’s actually a noble superhero, and not a bloviating idiot. And that makes it a lot less watchable.

I just like that fact that both Danny and Colleen are basically dead sloppy seconds from Game of Thrones. But yeah, more Colleen, please.

I can sort of see that, but I feel like Danny would have to see it that way for it to become more than a theory. An you kind of have to actively ignore some things we know about the monks and K’un-Lun in general.

Fwiw, Iron First is worth watching just for Colleen.

Technically in his solo series, he learned how to use it to heal (which really would’ve come in handy when Colleen got stabbed, come to think of it...) but it put him in a mini coma for several days. Dude’s kind of a glass cannon, and not even a really good one at that.

I was so frustrated that Iron Fist refused to show flashbacks of his time in K’un L’un. It would’ve gone a long way towards explaining some of his more frustrating character traits and making them relatable.

Yeah, I mostly liked what this series did with IF, but the last couple episodes make him both dumb and bad at fighting. And being a lousy fighter is definitely out of character.

Watching The Defenders, I’m glad that I skipped Iron Fist, the show. I thought that Danny’s mostly a fine character, especially when he’s the upbeat one of the ground, even if I found it a little weird how quickly his PTSD from failing K’un-L’un seems to have faded.
