Did the risk pay off the first time? Leia seemed pretty pissed, and instead of congratulating him for saving all their lives she demoted him. I assumed the “we’re a little faster than the First Order” strategy would probably work even better against the dreadnought than the other First Order ships.

I feel any argument that the Dreadnought was a threat to the departing fleet is negated by the fact the Leia didn’t congratulate Poe for saving them all, but rather chewed him out and demoted him for disobeying orders that cost them a lot of lives and valuable equipment.

But there is a reason for it: Commanding officers don’t stop in the middle of crisis to explain themselves to their junior officers.It’s just not how it’s done, and for good reason. Don’t be silly. She had time to chastise him and demote him. And the demotion totally wouldn’t have happened if he’d just saved all their lives. He got demoted because he lost all those lives needlessly.
