I played this game before launch and stuck with it all the way through August 2018 before burning out on the game. It was a grind to get to Pirate Legend, especially as I have a full-time job and two young kids.

Mainstream media reported the game as it was: a beautiful sandbox game with a good social atmosphere but lacking lacking gameplay and a shallow activity loop, which is true and in some respects is still true.

What a strange complaint.

It’s worth watching a recent King Gothalion session on Twitch. Short summary: Gothalion was by himself on a sloop and went to a Skull Fort. Eventually he befriended a crew on a galleon that was trying to fend off a more aggressive galleon. Gothalion defeated the captain and earned the skull key, but had to fend off…

I play solo. I’ve never been able to take on a skeleton fort raid by myself, because some team of dicks in a galleon parks there and murders everyone who approaches.

The other day I was playing solo and saw a galleon attempting a pirate raid activity. I sailed to the opposite end of the island, picked off some peasky skeletons manning the cannons, and noticed they had repositioned their ship to fire on mine. They sunk my ship, came ashore and killed me.

I posted this on Reddit last week but it’s worth a share lol. I had just received my tester sails in Sea of Thieves so I wanted to play for 30 minutes or so and then hit up some Overwatch comp. 5 hours later I found myself in the mouth of the kraken thinking ‘how did I end up here at 1:00am.

A couple of my thoughts:

Rare has done some amazing things with this game and listening. They stopped into a stream that I watched after the streamer posted a bug in the forum so they could work with them to see it and get the gears going on resolving it. Never seen that kind of dedication before from a developer

OK, I had to search myself after seeing Tom___Jerry listed above. There are 138 Tom and Jerry videos listed on the CIA’s video list! OBL really liked physical cartoon comedy, it appears.
