It sort of disappeared into a blur of similar PS1/PS2 JRPGs in those days. Which is a shame, because some gems like this got lost in the shuffle.

Imagine if Contra had its usual emphasis on running and gunning, plus an offensive jump mechanic and a quirky art style. Now imagine that the game is primarily boss battles with the occasional short side-scrolling level. That’s Cuphead. In other words, this is more side-scrolling shooter than side-scrolling platformer.

Have already heard from a couple of people about how they bought the game to play co-op with their child and now regret the purchase due to the difficulty - and resulting child tears.

This cosplay turns me Ann.

I’m enjoying myself with this game, but know deep down that I would be enjoying myself so much more with a more user-friendly quest log. My days of happily puzzling out obtuse quest hints are long behind me. Give me a destination and let me make the journey already.

Are these same review bombers the ones responsible for the disproportionate number of anime booby games being rated “Overwhelmingly Positive?”

It looks like the spiritual sequel to the original Saga Frontier I’ve been waiting years for. Multiple player characters with intertwining stories, some of whom can (apparently) join each other’s party.

Suda 51 strikes me as the kind of guy who would use the same terminology every time he has an unexpectedly large bowel movement.

“That dookie was punk AF”

I enjoyed Metronomicon, but you’re certainly onto something. My biggest complaint was that I could never actually look at the cool monster art and animation because one second looking away from the descending notes = damage I then had to frantically recover from. So many monsters seemed cool out of the corner of my

As good as it is now, it likely still would have been received as a disappointment. Those E3 trailers showed worlds far more lush and alive than (we now know) the game was ever destined to be. If the pre-launch marketing had been more accurate to the game’s build and the game had received a modest launch rather than

What’s the greater show of strength? Accepting and shrugging off the evils of the world, or making a stand to change them?

Call me crazy, but I hope I can play this with the voices turned off. Part of the charm of those SNES RPGs was filling in the low-def details like voices, pixelized faces, etc with the details in your own head, kind of like reading a novel.

Secret of Mana was perfect for myself and my two siblings. Weren’t many other

Counterpoint to all the “kids are toxic jerks” comments:

I once had a 13 year old, English-speaking Korean girl (as in currently living in South Korea) act as my guide in Borderlands 2 when I was too wracked with social anxiety to turn my mic on and ask for help. She talked non-stop about herself, her family and game

Any tips for us sensitive souls out there who love the game but can’t handle the trash talk?

Growing up I loved Street Fighter and loved playing with neighborhood friends. Unfortunately our local tournament scene was a hive of toxic masculinity where 1 in 3 opponents would bark like a dog or call you a faggot while

That’s exactly it. Sony requires trophy support.

I remember seeing a forum post from the Undertale guy stating that he was bitterly opposed to achievements/trophies and they would never happen in his games unless he was forced to. Well...here we are.

I agree with you that Arya should probably see Littlefinger’s machinations coming, but I also feel like the show is telling us that Arya is a bit full of herself at the moment.

She’s outgrown the Faceless assassins. She took out the Freys with ease. She was about to march headlong into King’s Landing with nary a care.

“am chivalrous (not just an act)“

“I’m kind of a prude”

“feminist leaning man hater types”

I think this guy has a bit of white knight syndrome whether he realizes it or not, and the lack of self awareness has led to a lack of understanding of his partner’s real needs. Suddenly he’s no longer “taking care of his woman”

What can we honestly do to combat these sort of business practices? The “Don’t buy it” strategy alone doesn’t seem to be working thanks to whales, uninformed buyers, etc. So what options do lifelong gamers who are unhappy with the direction the hobby is taking have as a means of pushing back?

Jump Rope in FFIX was the bane of my existence.
