Everyone from David Bowie to astrobiologists to tinfoil hat believers has pondered the question: is there life on Mars?

I always find it strange how many scientists believe Earth life is the only possible kind of life. Sure, boron is required for the formation of RNA, but why is it even remotely likely that RNA is required for life, or that any other living thing anywhere in the universe would be RNA-based?
