One thing that bothered me about Shrek was that, for a movie based in irreverence, it also clearly pushed a theme that beauty is only skin deep — that Fiona (as an ogre) was beautiful being who she really was, even if that was looking like a big, green ugly ogre.

Are you serious? Do you pay any attention to the news?
There was one — one — early voting booth, per county, in Ohio. It's just a coincidence that the bigger counties have many more Democrats. So making people wait in line for 4-6 hours doesn't affect the vote?

To clarify: by "protect", I essentially meant train. Though I will say, those re-training programs have shown to be not that effective. More needs to be done there, such as figuring out how to incentivize apprenticeships.

Well for one, trading with someone makes it less likely you'll go to war with them. If you have no ties, it's much easier for leaders to say, "Oh, yeah? Here's a bombing run!"

Got it. Thanks!

Exactly. That's my point.

An observation: The numbers you (and many other commentators) are citing are based on one exit poll. What I find interesting is that we've learned—in a very real way—how even many, many polls can be wrong by 2-5% (and occasionally more) over what actually happens.

Well, President-elect. The trial is in late November.

…who didn't release his tax returns, which would have proven what a great businessman he was.

Oh, I am not saying it was minor at all. Tens of thousands died / were wounded in Iraq (and that's not counting the Iraqis) ; the Great Recession caused deep pain for tens of millions.

A bit of hyperbole, but for the U.S? It's top 5. We just elected a president with absolutely zero public experience, who told the media/most of the public/his own party/the other party/whole sections of citizens to essentially "bite me", was deemed unfit by basically the entire political and civic establishment and

Yep, it's tough. I have a lot of friends who are teachers and I've tried to talk them down about letting it all out when they get in the lounge, but not turn into a mess in front of the kids.

People forget how horrible a president George W Bush was. He was not nearly the scumbag and charlatan that Donald Trump is, but after being led by Dick Cheney, his administration did a lot of damage from 2001-2009.

While 9/11 was worse (the 3000 deaths and tens of billions in property damage), as I was in my mid-20s on 9/11, I can say that stunned feeling is not dissimilar.

Nah, you're using your brain thingy too much.

I wont speak for Dieter, but as a long-time fan (I'm 40, so the original 3 movies were my wheelhouse) I got a bad feeling once Finn, with zero training, was effective using a light saber against a storm trooper (apparently anyone can wield those things in battle now) but really started to get deflated once I learned

2039, eh? So the next Aladdin movie should come out just about the time the new Tool album gets released, then.

Well, except that analogy has been going around for quite awhile (http://www.sputnikmusic.com… ; Jeff Chang's 2007 book "Cant' Stop, Won't Stop.")

The amount of times I still quote Part II is ridiculous. You wouldn't think chances to use "Sorry, Steven!", "Odin…Odin", "I'm a full-blown al-co-hol-ic", "It's 2's and 4's, it's f*kcing", "A LeMans?" etc would ever come up, but they do.

Ed and Todd, what are you guys talking about?
