You know how much some engineers get paid, right?

You know what? Me too. It’s goofy as fuck, and I wouldn’t do it myself, but if I saw one it would make my day. Still way more interesting than some crossover or brodozer.

Hey, I am 100% for slapping turbos on things. And you’re right about the diffs, my 325i came with an open one and the LSD I put in it was from an “is”.

You sound like a contrarian. Have fun with that.

You’ve never driven one, have you?

I know you’re joking, but that would be fucking awesome.

Iron Croissant => iron cross. He’s a little Nazi bitch, guaranteed.

Pay shortage for sure. A lot of American companies have modern trucks now, though. My uncle drives for Ingles, his is automatic with good brakes.

Have you actually owned multiple vehicles before? I currently have three, and spend less total money on vehicular expenses than I did with one. If you want it, you can make it happen. If not, that’s fine, but don’t pretend it’s not feasible.

Cool story. We’re going to keep speeding, you’re welcome to keep wasting your time.

Again, everyone’s situation is different. Some of us are able to speed safetly and save time. There’s nothing you can do to stop us, so you might as well accept it.

Your “actual” average will vary widely depending on where you live, how far your commute is, what time of day it is, how much of it is safe to speed on, the car you drive, etc. I used the number you provided as an example. The point is, if the situation allows it, why would you choose to waste more time in your car

Weird! What year was yours? Mine is an ‘89, and it doesn’t ding but 55 is more bold that the rest of the speedometer.

So...if your work commute is 30 miles each way, and you work 5 days a week, that’s a whole day and a half less time per year that you waste sitting in your car (4.28 min * 10 commutes per week * 52 weeks per year / 1440 minutes per day).

Some (most) of us are capable of controlling a car at slightly higher speeds, have more fun at slightly higher speeds, and waste less time out of our lives going slightly faster speeds. For a capable driver, going slow makes no logical sense.

Holy shit, I haven’t had that happen to me but I bet it’s a nasty surprise.

Just a guess on my part, and I’m sure some people will continue to do it no matter what.

Completely agree that it’s awful, but I think ashtrays would help. I’d guess the motivation for at least some butt-flickers is laziness. “Oh, there’s no ashtray in this car? I’m not gonna make one myself, might as well toss it out here.”
