Yep. I commanded a maintenance company in the PA ARNG. Deployed to OIF with a whole mess of 998s that we “upgraded” with add-on armor kits. You think the stock 6.2 is a slug? Add 4000lbs of steel plate and glass laminate to it. Upgrade the suspension, steering, trans, axles, prop shafts, portal hubs, brakes? Naahhhh.

My ‘96 240sx with an SR20DET (2.0l 4cyl turbo) swap (also ‘96) gets 57mpg at 65mph highway driving. It also makes 378hp and 320ft.lbs at the wheels. You can have fuel economy and power, it just takes a lot of engineering and work to get there.
