If he is off a committee he loses a certain level of lobbyists because he loses the influence he had on them. The phrase “killed in committee” comes to mind for the power being on a committee wields. Even if something might be overwhelmingly supported, particularly by the public, if it never leaves the committee it

This was so stupid. You know what would have been the easiest thing in the world? To ignore that video. Do that, and it’s barely a blip. Gosar’s Twitter followers would have already forgotten about it. Instead, it becomes another predictable rallying point in the culture war. Pelosi gave Republicans everything they

LMFAO

Congress is so shit at holding literally anyone accountable I had to actually look up what Censured means, since I haven’t heard it used in 10 years.

Now playing

This video actually has a really great take, which is that it is the perfect balance of horror and comedy. Go too far in the horror direction, and it’s no longer young audience friendly. Go too far in the comedy direction, and it’s too light and silly with no weight.

Don’t forget Bernie Wrightson’s monster designs. Each ghoul has a personality, even if they’re just molded from rubber. It was just gross and gory, it was gross, gory, and cartoony. Wrightson was a master.

The taxi ghoul is an underrated moment. I always assumed the cabbie was just sitting there, minding his business, when the green cloud of PKE snaked its way in through the exhaust pipe, and Evil Dead-style transformed the driver into the horrible deadite you see there. Legit scary.

I found Dana’s refrigerator to be the most disturbing, since it was such a mundane object that you don’t expect to contain a gateway to the astral plane or whatever.

He’s an ugly little spud, isn’t he?

I could see Bill Hader make the leap to drama. He’s already done it with The Skeleton Twins, and he has some crazy good dramatic scenes in Barry, like when he’s in the car with his old Marines buddy and realizes he has to kill him.

Crazy Stupid Love is the best romantic comedy of the last 10 years, IMO. Carell, Gosling, Stone and Moore are all tremendous in it. So are the kids, and so are Kevin Bacon and Marisa Tomei. And John Carroll Lynch! Seriously, people, it’s worth a watch. It’s much funnier than I ever thought it would be, and very

I’ll add my voice to the chorus of “Williams was fantastic in ONE HOUR PHOTO.” He was also very good in THE NIGHT LISTENER, as a DJ who gets involved in the story of (if I remember correctly) a missing girl, that turns out to be something quite different. It also helps that the movie is shot like a supernatural

Did you know Michael Keaton used to do comedy as well?

I think Groundhog Day deserves a bit of credit as a stepping stone into drama for Murray - he certainly pushed for the script to go deeper than it did, and it still gave him the opportunity to run a gamut of emotions and show a bit of growth out of line with most characters he played.

Fun list to read through! I think for me Robin Williams should be in a class of his own - he’s the only one on this list whose career as a dramatic actor was as long and as acclaimed as his career as a comedic actor.

My favorite example of this is probably Molly Shannon, who is so funny but has done some pretty dark dramatic stuff, for Bryan Fuller and in other projects (she played Emily Dickinson!)

Idk that I’d call ‘Crazy Stupid Love’ a “sad-sack dramedy.” It’s very fun and funny, and I don’t think is any heavier than your typical rom-com. I love that movie, so maybe I’m missing something, but I’ve never thought of it that way.

Speaking of Sandler’s better performances, I was surprised that Funny People wasn’t mentioned in the article. It isn’t a great film, but Sandler is tremendous in it, and it’s a really interesting bridge between comedy and drama for a lot of its cast. (It also convinced me that Seth Rogen could do drama if he so chose.)

I read that Tarantino wrote the part of Donnie Donowitz in Inglourious Basterds for him; that would have been great to see, and you can definitely picture a buff Sandler swinging a bat at a Nazi’s head and shouting at the top of his lungs. Eli Roth was okay, but his delivery was a bit off.”

Yeah, Sandler passing on

I’m convinced we will never fully appreciate just how fucking good Robin Williams was. And I think you did a good job appreciating it here.
