Heh, basically this

I wish I could give it credit for this, but telling her backstory through puppets didn’t really reveal anything we didn’t already know. So the episode has the double-whammy of slow plot movement, and redundancy, this late into the season. (Though between the puppets, and the allusions to A Nightmare Before Christmas,

The accident was WAY over the top, like watching an opening scene in a post-apocalypse. A random semi-truck barreling into a parked car could be a metaphor for the writing, which I find myself having issues with yet again this week.

That’s a great comparison, but I could actually see what Spielberg recognizes in Michael Bay. When Bay talks about his “process” (What? Don’t laugh) he actually comes across smarter than people give him credit for.

And John Candy helps because he owed “The Family” a favor!

He’s just mad because they lost.

Forget Activision Blizzard, Bethesda... Ninja Theory was Microsoft’s best acquisition. They’ve been low-key great for years, and have the potential to be the next Naughty Dog. Mark my words, Hellblade 2 is going to turn Xbox’s fortunes around.

“Cartoony platformer?!” Hold me back! :P

One of the problems with Netflix being the streaming leader is how their story design influences other platforms. Serialized tv did not used to be this transparent. The idea of being a multi-hour movie was especially harmful to superhero shows, robbing the medium of its strength to be more like comic book issues.

I like to take my time too, especially with open-world games, which bring out the completionist in me. It can be a double edged sword, because I still have a limited amount of playtime, so open-worlds tend to be the games that can take half a year for me to finish. I kind of dread that now, and openly embrace shorter

Peter Pan and Wendy. I expected better from David Lowrey

Usually yes, but sometimes a thing can be worse than even the low expectations one has. That was me and The Flash, where the bad CGI, starting with the baby scene, left me aghast. With that kind of budget, this is what was on offer?? And how my hopes that I’d at least like Michael Keaton’s Batman didn’t really come

Oh, records are meant to be broken. It’s pop. We’ll definitely see something like this again. The only question is what form will the next big star take?

Now playing

I know the point of this is to pretend Hogwarts Legacy doesn’t exist, but here’s my shoutout to Hogwarts Legacy. Not perfect by any means, but I think their recreation of the castle, and overall love letter to the Potter universe was pretty incredible. There’s enough here to make something even better down the line,

This is a totally solid take, and I actually hope you’re right about this. We’ll have to see, but so far, evidence suggests she holds her biases pretty strongly. Even her job offer to Indira, while beneficial to both of them, could be read as an extension of her views on how cops should serve her, and her need of

The Muppets Mayhem?! Nooooo!

Noah Hawley has always loved playing with the yin and yang in this show

Based on Netflix’s track record recently, they haven’t earned the benefit of the doubt from me just yet. However, first impressions are strong. I’m really mixed on this, and really nervous. I want to be optimistic, but Bryan and Mike’s departure is not nothing.

Clearly One Piece has set a standard for Netflix’s live-action anime adaptations going forward. And I don’t think “how can we improve the original?” was the question they were asking while making it, so you’re probably right. I think they were more concerned with asking how they could condense the first few arcs, and

Do better.
