People have their own opinions on extended cuts, but all in all, it depends on their opinion of the movie, so I’m pretty sure that not everyone is going to think “3 hours!? Fuck that!” It’s only half an hour longer, which is a lot compared to some other Extended Editions of movies, but it doesn’t rival the LOTR…

That was said more about the previous 2 casting choices than him. It was probably the fact that he was more eccentric than most people expected at the time.
