For real. Companies and people routinely obtain patents for pie-in-the-sky ideas. Obtaining a commercially viable product is much harder than describing it in a patent application.

Fair enough. Thanks for the reply.

You concluded he’s a trust fund kid (with no proof), and made a negative value judgment from that baseless conclusion. I think that’s a crappy way to treat people, on the internet or otherwise. You have no idea whether he’s received money that he didn’t personally earn. But sure, I’m the one that looks bad, not the

Calling someone you don’t know a trust fund kid as a pejorative without any proof is not a good look. Viewing the Hummer crushing the PT Cruiser as some obtuse slight against the working man is looking for controversy where none exists. An old PT Cruiser is not too proud to be crushed by a truck. The “expensive toy

I don’t believe there is any evidence that Monsanto or other agrocorps have sued farmers for inadvertent contamination of their crops. Monsanto has explicitly stated that they will not sue for inadvertent contamination.

This thing looks like a futuristic version of underground mine vehicles:

I agree with you regarding the general trend toward composites and asphalt. There really isn’t a financial incentive to replace with slate or build new with slate. Although a big selling point around my area, homeowners aren’t likely to recoup the cost for replacing or building with slate. The annual maintenance

I don’t know, man. I’m in the mid-Atlantic and there are tons of slate and clay tile roofs. Not every roofer can work on them, but there are dozens that do. I’ve seen plenty of new and existing houses installed with slate. They last such a long time and add a ton of character to the house, IMO. Obviously a huge

The tiles are meant to mimic high end slate and terra cotta tiles, which are expensive roofing materials. The title is accurate in that Musk is claiming the solar tiles will be similarly priced to the materials their are mimicking. Regular roof isn’t a reference to “regular” roofing materials, but to non-solar

I don’t think terra cotta costs less. It’s comparable in price to slate. My terra cotta roof is 75 years old. The flashing and underlayment needs repaired/replaced, but the terra cotta is very durable. There are terra cotta roofs in Europe that are over 300 years old.

I put Kosher salt on meat all of the time and have never taken a bite and crunched into a piece of salt. Myron is legit though.

At 13 seconds, you can see his arm outside of the cab! Who needs two hands on the wheel when you’re jumping a Chevy.

Patent enforcement in China has gotten better. There is an administrative option in addition to a court option that is growing in popularity. Enforcing IP against a state-run entity certainly poses challenges. Domestic competition is growing, however, which has increase the need for more robust enforcement. See htt

My dad smoked when I was a kid. I remember when I was about 5 or so, I hid my Dad’s smokes. He was looking for them and I told him that I hid them. He seemed annoyed and asked me not to hid his things. He quick cold turkey not too long after that. Now that I have kids, I can imagine what a gut punch that must

I’m saying the attractive nuisance doctrine is irrelevant to children he invites to his property. You implied it would.

The attractive nuisance doctrine applies to child trespassers, not invitees. Perhaps you were making a joke and i missed it.

I see people do this a lot, but usually in the city at low speeds where three cars run a light and then go three wide at the entrance ramp.

Not to mention the greater liquidity of securities compared to the car. Refusing to use credit cards also costs cash or other rewards. If you have problems being disciplined in using the cards, it makes sense to spurn them, but otherwise is turning away free money.

Yup, just like a ponzi scheme. Except people are not investing money, there are no expected investment returns, other people’s money is not being used to provide false investment returns, and services paid for are actually rendered. Dudas was a poor steward of the USPTO. It’s unsurprising if he called in a ponzi

If letting them go doesn’t save money, as you assert, why does IBM let them go? The legal department is a cost and doesn’t make the company money (although the licensed technology from the business unit does). Products/services developed through R&D make the company money. If they didn’t care about the cost, they
