I rented an Xtrail when I lived for a few months in Muscat Oman. It was fine for around town with my family, but when it came time for deep sand, desert crossing weekends, I promptly swapped for a Nissan Patrol. The AWD system on the Xtrail felt designed by Mattel, and shared components with the Barbie Jeep.
