I always liked Westworld more in theory than execution, although the first season really did nail the positive side of puzzle-box storytelling. (But there’s always the negative side, which is that it’s nearly impossible to make the payoff live up to the buildup.)

Westworld on its best day wasn’t on Deadwood’s level.

First season was brilliant. Anything after that reminded me of Prison Break---they seemed like they never expected to go beyond 1 season.

“Then everyone died. Humans, hosts, disembodied AI consciousnesses. Everyone. Don’t make robots.”

Yeah it got to point where everybody was just a host, or they died and were brought back a host, I was hoping Jesse Pinkman would not end up being a robot at the end, but alas, he was a robot.

It’s pretty deceptive, TBH. Kotaku is factually reporting that Taylor claims she was offered a lump sum of $4K, but Bloomberg’s reporting reveals that it was $4K per session for a week’s worth of work. Kotaku should be mentioning that discrepancy in every article.

Luke, you’ve gotta be kidding me. Jason’s reporting deserves more than a tiny blurb at the bottom of this article, and you shouldn’t even be quoting Taylor at this point. You of all people know the significance of Jason’s article on this story and what it means for Taylor’s original statements. Please stop amplifying

Hale is one of the leaders of the VA labor rights movement that has improved working conditions for VAs through a lot of hard work and a strike. Taylor is only in it for herself and has been outed as a liar.

For context, it was discovered that Taylor was offered $4k per recording session over 4-5 sessions. A VA recording session is typically 3-4 hours long so she was offered $1000 per hour of work which would end up being $16-20k total. Taylor said no to this, asking for over $100k total for their work and a percentage of

If I tried to burn the wrong fucking house down I'd be pretty quiet about it too. Well maybe not going that far but fanned the flames for sure.

Not putting the recent information uncovered by Bloomberg (which was referenced on Kotaku in an updated previous article) where it was proven that she was offered 4k PER session for 4+ sessions is pretty disingenuous.

But if she KNEW about all of this before being hired, and still took the job anyway? Then she’s a scab, and rough treatment comes with the territory.

Guilty of what?

It’s funny, but I’m also pretty sure they mean they agree with her stuff about “please buy the game anyway” and “don’t harass people online” in particular

Good. I don’t care how you feel about the whole situation, attacking Jennifer Hale for just doing her job (a job that she got after negotiations with Taylor fell through) is a pretty crappy thing to do.

Pretty much. You don’t want to doubt someone’s account because nearly all victims of serious crimes are telling the truth. Here however it’s someone who has lied, on camera, about being the victim of a serious crime (later trying to excuse it as just a discriminatory joke) and unfortunately that does stain perceptions.

I mean, if this is all real then it’s awful but like

It’s not even really covering their tracks though. This husband is still this faceless entity only potentially heard at the other end of the phone.

“As of today I have access to all my accounts and finances again”

So in less than 48 hours this has gone from alleging/revealing her husband was controlling every aspect of her life financially and emotionally, forcing her to continue doing streams, promising to sell off everything she had and threatening to murder her dogs if she did anything to displease him to… oh he just gave
