Yes, to be honest, I’m hard pressed to think of any gay character in a major horror film, outside of horror-comedies like Bodies Bodies Bodies (where the main lesbian couple are the only ones who survive) and whatever Stranger Things is (where the gays are also still alive). 

Coco was excellent, the best of all the movies listed here by far, and I’d argue earns it’s cathartic tear-jerkiness from a more sincere place than even Up.

In fairness and empathy, I should mention that it’s always been hard for them to attract attention and funding when world-class museums like the MoMA, the Met, and the Guggenheim are just a 45 min subway ride across the river in Manhattan. It doesn’t see much tourist traffic for that reason. That’s a tough situation…
