I think the chaotic unplanned nature of the shoot added to the realism and terror of the movie. I don’t think any of our responses to a sudden alien monster attack would be artfully choreographed.

I think a lot of this is just selection bias and category error and the fact that most horror movies, while fun and scary, simply aren’t very good in terms of the very specific criteria for artistic merit that the Academy voters are looking for.

What’s funny is that a lot (maybe most!) of old classic works that are considered “art/literature” today were definitely considered “genre” in their time.

Stop asking British people over the age of 40 what they think about JK Rowling challenge (impossible)

An entire ship’s worth of gore-encrusted monsters”

Conservatives: “Listen woke Libtards, gender is about XY chromosomes and nothing else. You can never change your biological sex. Science doesn’t care about your ‘Identity’ or ‘Pronouns’”

I think it should be canon in the Goonies’ universe: Data did not grow up to be a scientist/inventor, but is instead an award-winning actor and Chunk is his (skinny) high-powered entertainment lawyer.

True Lynch fans know the real message is “there is no message, Lynch movies/shows are not about something, instead they are one man’s fascinating ongoing quest to accurately capture on film how it feels to be in a dream.

A post-apocalyptic survivalist Murray Bartlett does sound fun.

“PLEASE PUT DOWN YOUR FOOT. YOU HAVE 20 SECONDS TO COMPLY.”

Will: “Wait...do I have a crush on a boy?”

Right, well put, at least they have more context and vocabulary and role models both in media and likely a few other people in their school/family.

I’ve actually been really happy with how ST has handled Will’s sexuality

It’s a good thing Allison William’s character is single (from as far as I can tell in the trailer), otherwise they’d definitely have to address that angle.

My mom (a retired ER respiratory therapist) is always yelling ventilator/oxygen inaccuracies at every hospital show.

Man, they got that monster design just right - believably plastic/rubber, but also just human enough to convey emotion and hit that uncanny spot.

Hmm thanks! I do like the lead (due to the Americans, ofc) so maybe that and the aesthetic are enough to give it a try.

Should I start Perry Mason? Is it decent?

In about 90% of Season 1 and 50% of Season 2, Din is not Pedro Pascal. There are stuntmen/doubles in the suit, he mostly just does the voice and the few helmet-off scenes.

Shhh don’t reveal the secret villain casting!
