Very true. I only didn't include them because it felt too similar to headphones. Probably should have given them a shout out in that section, but didn't.

THANK YOU for making desktop PC's number 1. That was a pleasant surprise. Buying a laptop, even a Windows one, is like buying a Mac. You can't change much inside (if anything), so you have to buy out your nose for what you think you might need because you can't upgrade anything. Why do I need to pay thousands of

Whitson, you forgot the one you can never downgrade without getting absolutely pissed off about: speedy internetz! xD

I have never been in a position in my life where I could justify dropping the cash on a Moog machine of any kind, so I was super happy when Animoog ($19.99) was first released. Instead of trying to recreate a Moog for the iPad, Animoog is its own little instrument made specifically for iOS. You get a synthesizer that

You people should watch the 3rd season of HBO's The Wire. About the drug war and the militarization of America's police force. Instead of police walking a beat and interacting with the community. Policing and solders are completely different thing. Soldiers look at everyone as the enemy.

Haha, I'm actually from Michigan originally, so I know how you feel. I love Michigan, and it'll always be home—but I'm pretty dead set on not spending another entire winter freezing my ass off. California's worth the price.

Lived in the OC for 32 years. Commuted from South OC to LAX for work. LA sucks. You will enjoy SD.

Wonder what the hot acid bath does to the working components of the microwave.

The crucial & biggest limitation of Pixelmator for me is its lack of anything like Photoshop's Actions. I do a lot of bulk image processing and for me, recordable actions/macros are an essential tool. Neither Pixelmator or Gimp could do this, last I checked. Does anyone know of any other image editors that CAN do

Mine was an Apple II+ in 1979. Initially had a cassette load for saving and loading code. Got 2 Disk II's a few months later. I sold Apple's from 1982-1984 and was on the Lisa rollout (sold 20) and the Mac rollout. Bought the first gen Mac for $800 (special deal for Apple salespeople)

My first was an Apple II, part of the original run, back in lat 1977. I was about 10. My dad (a former tech in the military and then with IBM before deciding to go into medicine) bought it for me. He was convinced that personal computers were going to be a big thing and that we'd eventually all have one, so I might as

As someone who retired in his 30's over a decade ago and has thoroughly analyzed all this data, I'm afraid there are some huge issues with it that may make it somewhat optimistic to extremely optimistic.

Here is what I want someone here to tell me...

This column/blog advice is FAR too simplistic. People really need to talk to financial planners (your bank should be able to help you for free). There's no way I would put my hard-earned, retirement funds in mid- to high-risk investments in this economic climate. You'd have to be nuts (or much wealthier than me)!

true, but don't forget us who have kids/student loans/medical bills etc. Somewhere on the radio I heard, medical bills is one of the biggest causes of bankrupticies. Also, there a few of us who don't expect to live that long. Not being able to enjoy that money is not good either.

Yes, I do. I don't like to buy things that I haven't touched. I didn't come into the store with the express idea that I was going to purchase online. I prefer instant gratification, and I came to the store hoping that I would walk out with it today. Your poor performance caused me to walk out the door and wait 3-5

Hardly ever. What I do far more often is use my phone to pull up Amazon reviews for a product before buying it in store. I have gotten to the point where I don't feel comfortable buying anything for more than 50 dollars or so without reading some customer reviews. I guess this is sort of the opposite of showrooming.
