How'd you like five across your lip?

Still (mostly) funny old radio stuff: Phil Harris/Alice Faye (prob. my fave old radio show), Bob and Ray, It Pays to Be Ignorant, Edgar Bergen, Bickersons, Jean Shepherd (not really "golden age," but good), a few others.
100 percent agree. "Life is a Rock" is not only fun and it seems like it took WORK, fitting all those names into one song. It was probably an endurance test just to sing the damn thing. (And give a lot credit to the no-doubt obsessed individual who put the video together.)
I vote yes as well. At least when you do "Other Shows," the TV Club can take a peak over at TV Land once in a while.
From what I understand, the studio shook. You are right — it's an amazing moment (in an otherwise confused episode.)
Yep. I heard of it, during my youthful obsession with old time radio. I still listen to them now when I have trouble sleeping; they are usually simple, well-done stories that send me nicely off to dreamland. Not everyone holds up, of course (it's a 60-year old show) but the great ones are truly great.
Regarding Brooks and Hilter …
Back in the day I saw High Anxiety at a New york theater, when it first came out. Being among the youngest people there, I didn't understand a lot of the jokes, but I just remember the entire theater on the verge of hysteria.
I remember hearing the creators of Lost speak and they were kind of laughing about the continuing interest in Walt. The subtext was, "We've dropped so many things, and you guys get all obsessed about THAT?"
On my favorite show, Mary Tyler Moore, Rhoda had a sister that got married, Debbie, in the fourth season. When Rhoda got her own show, she had a new sister, Brenda, who was like Rhoda was before she became thin and confident.
Cosby Show had too many guest stars and musical numbers too. (They were often from great people. But still.) I was a little shocked to see the Cosby Show hailed here; it was a pretty good show, at times, but isn't it commonly accepted wisdom it went downhill after the first season,
Yeah, it was a "bottle" episode, and bottle episodes are generally made because they are cheap. So it had no artistic rationale, just an economic one. It didn't move the story forward in any way, and if BB has had a problem of late, it's stalling too much at the expense of the plot. Overall, it was dull, and I hope…
Totally agree, the plane crash was ridiculous; Walt has done enough bad things without inadvertently causing the deaths of 100 or so people.
I thought the Mary Tyler Moore episode where Murray confesses his love wasn't bad really … the final scene is quite touching and exquisitely written and acted. It just seemed to come out of nowhere. Murray had obviously been nursing a crush on Mary for some time; but for him to be suddenly so agressive about it didn't…
