I don't know, to me Rixty Minutes is an example of how great improv comedy can be. Those trailers were genius, and they had a great off-the-cuff sensibility to them that's rare on TV.

I love improv comedy so I had a knee-jerk reaction to this but he actually makes a lot of sense. Improv is great (when done well) and most modern comedic actors/writers have their roots in it but you can't rely on improv alone. At this point though, taking improv classes at theaters like UCB and Second City is…
At least with UCB in NY/LA, improv classes are basically the only way to get involved with the community there. I assume it's the same for the Chicago theaters.
For me the entire joy of improv comedy is that it isn't professional and doesn't necessarily follow any specific guidelines or standards. The fact that you could be watching something that will end in total disaster is exciting. Not that I don't love sitcoms and stand-up and all of that but it's a different thing.
I will never stop defending Zooey on this show. People are always saying how the guys make it but the way she can bounce off of everyone adds a lot to the shows' success.
That was You're the Worst, I think.
I am so jealous of you for getting to experience all of this for the first time. Season 2 is one of my favorite comedy seasons ever.
I am too but I want a proper farewell, which is why I'm a little worried that no one is saying S6 is the last yet.
Other than AITF I think this might wind up being my least favorite episode of S4. It's just so weird and nasty, and the tag is like everything that's wrong with the season in one scene.
Yeah, the characters have all hit a nice groove, like the writers know exactly how to write for them. And I'm definitely liking Jake a lot more this season.
The precinct plot was the definition of a bottle episode. The B-plot stops it from being one, though. Although I guess if you consider Holt's office/the main precinct area to be different sets then it's not one.
Speaking of Too Many Cooks, how long until one of the networks tried to make a sitcom version of it and totally kills the joke?
Like most cable networks, Comedy Central has some tentpole smashes (South Park, Tosh.0, maybe Key & Peele to a much lesser extent) and a bunch of shows with small audiences that the tentpoles hold up (Inside Amy Schumer, Broad City, Nathan For You). I'd say it does fine for what it is.
I can see New Girl passing as a cult hit because it has a small but dedicated audience but is no longer a big, mainstream success (though moreso than Broad City which is basically designed to be a cult hit).
Watch it! The show is just that but even more!
It's okay to like two things, guys.
I thought last night's episode was probably the best one yet. It's improving…not fast enough, though.
Yeah this was a pretty solid episode. The show is improving, but not fast enough and it's basically too late now. It's too bad because there's still a lot of potential, but it'll never be realized.
