Well, he is right that not a single female character is wearing any bulky body armor. Also, I think that gorilla is confirmed male.
Gamergate is a large group of people that range across a large spectrum from people who just quietly support the idea of better standards in gaming (something Kotaku has admitted it has failed at, but has made many strides to fix), all the way to the other end of the spectrum of people who are feverant and vocal. …
Oh and lastly, because you ended with some vague and passive aggressive comment about labels, the idea that enjoying video games as a regular part of your lifestyle somehow has a negative connotation associated with it in modern society is absurd from the point of view of every adult I interact with.
Give us some more context. Who are these "adults"? Do you work in a mental hospital or something?
It sounds like you work with a LOT of "adult" non-critical thinkers.
Chiming into this part of the discussion - Anita Sarkessian, in my honest opinion, is a hack that has only a tenuous grasp of the subject matter she's discussing.
Is this supposed to prove anything? In some circles adults believe the earth is a few thousand years old, doesn't make them right.
I don't mean "deceptive" so much as merely misinformed and swept by the current. Heck, I tend to jump to conclusions all the time, but I like to think that oftentimes I can accept being wrong. Hence why I posted my original comment in the first place. :P
I see your perspective, but the man is kicking off Blizzcon by talking about an event that clearly encompasses a wave of harassment that was pronounced enough to get covered in mainstream news outlets and described by most, in shorthand, as "Gamergate." I recognize that some people have said that Gamergate is…
Reality is that both sides have horrible people doing harassment and death threat. Hell, the editor in chef of Gawker advocated for bullying on Twitter with his nice "smash a nerd day" comment.
I appreciate your point, thank you for bringing this up.
I'm sorry but this #stopgamergate2014 has to end. You continue to mention it, gamergate will continue. I don't see what you gain for continuing to mention it.
Oh boy, isn't this a fun topic of discussion. Melanie, I commend you for bringing this content balanced and showing pros and cons and that this isn't completely one-sided (like other Gawker sites which I shall not name ;) ) and thank you for showing resources that can help students and parents.
Common core would be far better without the testing component, however, the biggest issue is in the cookie cutter approach to education. You can standardize education all you want, but you cannot standardize students. This stardarda are far tonslow for some students and too fast for others. Kids develop differently.…
That only makes me ask why anyone who a religion tries to marginalize would be a member.
how on earth do you know that she made herself the center of attention? Perhaps I missed part of the story? Did she whip her tit out & spray the crowd with milk?
Look at me everybody, I'm breastfeeding! I'm special!
Having done about 7 pepakura based armors (including my Bubblegum Crisis one), Pepakura as with any cosplay can be a bitch to do, but you have to be willing (like any project) to put the time and effort into it, EXPECT to make mistakes and start over.
And I simply use sharp scissors. No exacto knife, no craft robo. I…
