Android Auto works fantastically in my new GTI, and the screen is already capable of pretty basic gesture controls in the form of buttons and menus appearing as my hand approaches it.
THE FUTURE IS NOW!

Contractor here, too, though in a State Gov’t office. We work, live and spend our money in the same community, but the attitude towards us from some of the unionized state employees is ridiculous. Contractors have to park in East Bumble, we have to badge in and out of the building every time and the managers compare…
The torque at that low of an RPM is really what the displacement is for.
I know we don’t need to make this into a group therapy session, but no matter how bad or sad a breakup has been for me, the next girl is always somehow endlessly better suited for me.
One of the best things I did was get a girlfriend who had no interest in riding. My motorcycle choice instantly lost 200 lbs!
This is gold.
My first street bike was a 2004 Sportster 1200 I bought new. I fell into the ‘Yay, America!’ thing, and so only a Harley would do. After my umpteenth time at the dealership parts counter to order performance parts - and not just stuff to make more power, I was the guy buying fork upgrades and piggy back shocks and…
Get a new tint shop. It’s totally doable with just some trim removal.
Door mounted mirrors (as opposed to a-pillar mounted) look cooler (subjectively) and are quieter (objectively).
This system doesn’t address valve lift, though, which is more important when it comes to efficiency.
I’m not sure about everything. I’m not an engine expert by any means, but being able to control cam timing and valve lift by the computer and not just the RPM alone is beneficial. I’m not sure if valve timing needs to be anything but RPM specific, but I do know that optimal lift is generally load specific at a given…
I’m with you on the looks. The Model S has some good proportions, but it comes off as a cheap car trying to look expensive, at least on the outside.
This whole dash is a solid attempt and I appreciate where you’re coming from, but I create ‘dashboards’ for a living (for business intelligence), and there is a ton of wasted real estate on here, indicators that are not very efficient and others that are difficult to view quickly and make sense of (something that…
I know this is old, but did you even watch the video? They ran snow and summer tires on both the FWD and AWD cars.
NICE. I wish we would do the same in NY.
We used these at the shop I used to work at. I don’t know if they stop any scratches from happening over a bristled brush, but they do clear off snow (especially deep snow) way faster than a brush, even a brush with the bristles oriented the same way as the Brum.
I mostly hear it from short women who drive giant SUVs and minivans who can’t reach the roof. I always reply, “if you can reach the roof, then either bring a step stool or drive a different car”.
More annoying is that they can ticket you for it, but I’ve never seen it happen.
Seriously. Everyone on Jalopnik screams bloody murder if a car dealer has a “market adjustment” on a car over MSRP, but this is ok?
