I agree comletely and am all for huge, open, persistent, sandbox, shared worlds. I'd love to see all shooters, adventure games and rpgs go this route. It would make the game worlds feel more real, living, evolving.
For it's budget, it was awesome. Going forward, with MS investing heavily in the Halo live action series headed by Steven Spielberg, I'm sure the series will only get better.
