Great. So men can get even more frustrated and potentially violent when real, human women don’t just do everything they want, whenever they want. Because their damn robot at home.

My first thought.

HAVE WE LEARNED NOTHING FROM WESTWORLD??

Harmony exists for no other reason than to make her owner happy.

I cant wait

I was talking to both my parents on the phone yesterday about how good the show was and I found myself instinctively saying, “You should watch it mom, I don’t know if you’d like it dad,” before realizing how much internalized misogyny I had just expressed. Literally I was trying to protect my dad from facing some of

Trying to educate him?

The “unrealistic” is what really got me. Like, noooo... this is incredibly realistic. Women are dealing with very similar shit right now worldwide.

The only people I know who think it is unrealistic are men.

Or not familiar with our history, or the history of other nations.

From the headline, I was kind of expecting much worse than a bunch of dudes benignly commenting on the topic on twitter. I have a feeling that it gets a lot worse than you’re giving us. But I’ll be damned if I’m going to go down that rabbit hole willingly.

“Educate him” like a reverse mansplain??

Yeah, that sounds weirdly made-up to me.

“It’s a rape fantasy”? God knows sexualizing rape is a depressingly common trope, but I’m having troubling imagining how anyone could confuse the cold, clinical rapes in The Handmaid’s Tale with erotica.

I watched with my husband, and at the end, I asked him what he thought and it did not go well. I can’t remember the exact words—all I remember is static?—but at one point he accused me of trying to “educate him” and said it felt “unrealistic.”

I was legitimately worried that this was going to be another OITNB thing where men complained about the lack of focus on men in a story by women about women in a women’s prison.

What if the Sehdev shot himself in the face with a shotgun? It would, at least, prove more successful in generating sales than penning some verbiose apologia for the amoral sociopathic behavior that suffuses reality television. It certainly would generate more buzz than the bullshit he spouts on the page.

This sounds like a book that is not to be tossed aside lightly. It should be thrown with great force—preferably at the heads of anyone who takes this shit seriously and/or lives by these “principles”.

I’m 4.5 months pregnant and oscillate between being so excited to bring this new person into the world and utterly regretting bringing a new person into THIS world.

S.E.L.F.I.E? Fuuuuuuck. People who make these stupid acronyms based on a trendy word should be automatically hung from lampposts.
