It's totally different! Because this time, IT'S ON A PLANE.

I first heard about the four color theorem in the Mathematical Magpie compilation of short stories or a successor to it, which I read early in high school. IIRC, the margins of my notebooks from the time were *covered* in doodles where I tried to find if there was a possible way to require 5 colors.

An article about hypnosis/mindcontrol on io9 that's not written by Annalee? This totally hoses my "guess the byline from the article" algorithm.

I think any look at modern inbreeding needs to include a look at the Amish and Mennonites, who have been a mostly closed society for a very long time in the US. Definitely a much higher incidence of a number of birth defects because of it, too.

post-mortem erection is sometimes colloquially termed "angel lust"

They were built by different subcontractors - totally different project branches because they're two different spacecraft. That coupled with the continually evolving design tweaks going on and the breakneck schedule, and it's not that surprising.

If you're lucky, you have an incompatible CO2 scrubber, and a team of nerds on the ground figuring out how you can hook it up using only the materials available.

It's certainly fanfic-friendly.

Buckaroo Banzai don't give a shit!

There are better ways to win at roulette. See "The Eudaemonic Pie".

Don't forget the haunted house / fun house that had a 'fake' corpse hanging for years that turned out to be real. It was discovered when they were shooting an episode of the "Six Million Dollar Man" in the space. [www.snopes.com]

Oh man, Event Horizon is one of the worst movies I've seen in a while. It has ONE TRICK. Just one. "Look! Over there! A distraction .... 3... 2... 1.... BOO!"

Trying to watch "The Omen" after reading "Good Omens" is like trying to watch "Airport" after seeing "Airplane!"

I've seen his "Dance of the Dead" (I think that was the title), which is basically "OH GOD, KIDS IN THE GRAVEYARD ENCOUNTER THE DEVIL, WHO SHOWS THEM DAMNED SOULS." Each damned soul, of course, is a chick, who dances sexy.

The ending shot reminds me of the end of "The Quiet Earth".

I always figured they were all clones and that somewhere in the pringles corporate headquarters was the ONE TRUE PRINGLE that all others were cloned from.

I really enjoyed REAMDE. I think it's more reminiscent of his collaborative stuff from the late 90's rather than some of his more recent stuff (eg Baroque Cycle). But, yeah, so much fun.
