The shows had different aims: MWC was supposed to be shrill and cartoonish, and Roseanne was supposed to be warm and familiar. I prefer Roseanne myself, but for a satire of American sitcoms(/American life?) MWC was pretty genius — if only because it WAS so shrill and cartoonish.

it brought observational humor into our living rooms.

ahaha perfect!

Right now, they air a lot of Roseanne episodes on CMT and We if anyone gets those cable channels. I DVR them sometimes.

I like Roseanne :3

It wasn't even really trashy — it reminded me of how a real family acts (or at least my family). Today's sitcoms feature characters that are Marketed to death so they don't have any soul. A bit weird that this is where we've ended up. (obvious exceptions for Parks&Rec, Louie, etc; shows that integrate improv and real

I really wish one of the nice people from the first few episodes stuck around over Josie :( Imagine the season that could have been!

They start calling everybody in when the season is 2/3 through and there's not  many people left.

Did anyone see Marcel on Next Iron Chef/Next Iron Chef: Redemption ? The little guy has grown quite a bit in his cooking, and he got pretty far in the recent season. Although it's funny to see that, behind all his growth, he's STILL being held back by a strange snotty attitude and flairs of pretension.

Good point! Why didn't he bring up how much it meant to him instead of making that weird "introduction" to raw food…

The shot of the judges reacting to Micah's spiel was priceless. Tom had a great frown.

that dude has been around for ages in countless kitchens, binging on coke and throwing things around

you are so late on this !!

what? if anything it's the other way around. people heckled shakespeare …greek theatre was interactive….etc etc. cavemen probably heckled each other's cave drawings.

i would heckle you for saying that speech

You sound like a child

You sound like a child

i could tell that sam l. jackson thought he was being tough and smart, but i just thought it was stupid.

@avclub-884c4beddd8c98bb3b016bdfcc1bcdf8:disqus it's a metaphor

It took 3 pages of comments for someone to point this out. Thank you.
