Uhhhhhhhh no. Nobody was saying that we’d NEVER need tanks from Lima ever again. In fact, there was a very definite need on the horizon. The army was trying to realize some short-term financial upside during sequestration at the expense of a long-term procurement strategy.

Well done!

There are a lot of very prudent reasons for keeping Lima open, other than ‘ZOMG MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX IKE WAS RIGHT’.

The truck they entered in the Baka 1000 was the MATV which is the MRAP they made for Afghanistan. This truck is smaller and is a third of the weight of the MATV. This truck also has a new tak4 suspension, tak4i, and this suspension is a major upgrade.

“Obsolete” means no longer capable of doing the job. The job is to cause mass death and widespread destruction. They still do that. “Being invincible” was never in the design specs and never will be. Grow up.

Tanks need infantry support. Period. Without infantry support any tank is a sitting duck. Especially when they’re as dumb as this crew. They had to know that big ass hill would allow even light ATGMs to punch through the weakest parts of the tank. There’s no excuse for them to not be in a hull-down position, with a

The New Horizons program cost close to a billion dollars. If you’re going to slink in here and grouse, at least get your decimal points in the right places.

Bull. Show me these bone yards. British tanks are not better and that’s according to Britiah tankers I’ve spoken with! As for designed for a war that will never come, well you've already been proven wrong on that one. The Abrams was designed in the 70s and fought in major tank battles in Desert Storm and OIF. Also

even an F22 in the hands of arabs would get its ass whooped by a WW2 fighter

No American operated M1 Abrams that I know of has been completely destroyed by enemy fire, they have been disabled and then destroyed by friendlies to prevent capture or destroyed by friendly fire.

Actually the US sold these to the Saudis. It was designed by Chrysler Defence and is now built/rebuilt by General Dynamics so your statement about being too cheap to diversify is not accurate. The only reason we’re still buying these things is complex but to simplify it for you, the M1A2S is pretty much one the better

^This.

The Saudi M1A2S only have their electronics upgraded to the SEP standard, they have the armor of an A1 (no DU)

The M1s sold to the Saudis do not have the same armor package as the US version.

Tactics and standard practices? Not much. It’s the same challenge with aircraft and other mil equipment. We can give the Saudis/Egyptians/other Arab countries all our top gear, but it doesn’t mean jack if they don’t constantly train and have the high maintenance standards that we do in the U.S.

That sure is an awful lot of politics in video games. ;)

Hey 8 years later it might actually come out in a somewhat finished state like Black Mesa and still before Half Life 3.

You’re not gonna believe this, but I’m playing on PS4.

CNN already is full of “we don’t know shit yet”, in case you haven’t seen it in the last 10 years. This is news, much more so than what any major media outlet is covering right now and, sadly, with much more facts even in it’s “this is all we know right now” stage. It’s still more informative and news worthy than

Why the hell doesn’t our (USA) mainstream media report this stuff instead of stupid PC pieces and political agendas?
