When they need at least two tries to knock it down...yeah it’s in Detroit.

Someone shaved the badges off of a Cobalt? A COBALT?

So you guys waited in line at the border, just so that you could wait in traffic to get to Woodward, just so you could drive too slow on Woodward?

If only it didn’t say “64" on the plate, I could imagine the owner bought it through this classified ad:
“Gently-used dark blue Lincoln Continental convertible with medium-blue interior. Former government vehicle, just brought back from from Texas. Rides great in parades. Only driven hard once. A few stains in left

Looks like an Aztek “going through The Transition”.

I would think “NYC metro area” would be the first red flag.

Not that it would move the needle any, but no mention of the Elantra GT fastback? Nothing more performance-wise, but a rear hatch over a coupe-style (still 4-door) body.

“Over the last several decades, auto factories have shuttered, only one General Motors plant on the border of Hamtramck remains.”

Umm....did you forget JNAP?
Though I will concede: Twice Nothing is still Nothing.

Angelle Sampey. Three NHRA Pro-Stock Motorcycle World Championships. 71.9% win-per-round ratio. And on and on.

And yet:
“Due to lack of sponsorship, Sampey did not race during the 2009 season, breaking her string of event qualifications.” (Wikipedia)

I took a similar course at our local community college several years ago, over a few fall Saturdays, with every intention of getting a bike for fun. It was only about $25 or so, plus providing our own helmets. They provided 250-cc bikes (Suzukis

I got this just to piss off the Germans with their M3's.

I hate those goddamned triple-trailers on the Ohio Turnpike. Ever since I I was still a teenager in Pennsylvania and getting ready to go to college in Michigan. I had seen a 60 Minutes story back then which showed them waving around like a snek with a crosswind. Ever since, for the last 25+ years, I give them as wide

I consciously will not drive through Royal Oak, Michigan, since I had an accident there last year. For those familiar with Royal Oak, it was at Fourth Street (I won;t tell you the cross-street I was on, but suffice to say it doesn;t really matter.) After diligently looking both ways, but with limited visibility due to

‘91 Clarkson bears more than a passing resemblance to Robert Smith.

I agree with the “buy-used-versus-new” view, but I think this alternative would be a bit extreme - and would almost definitely cost more than a normal new-car payment.

For some reason my reply didn’t post. So I’ve made a blog entry of it.

I get the impression (though it may be only anecdotal, maybe I’ve just watched too much Top Gear?) that the UK seems to have more convertibles per capita than almost any other country.

What are repair costs like on that Z3? I like those too (more than the Z4) but have stayed away for mainly that reason.

Earplugs. Seriously.
But I hear ya about the heat. Even in Michigan, when it’s over 80 or so, I leave it home. But as the author says, as soon as the sun starts to set, I’m out in it.
