Fuck, I love this. I was going to try and find something else to say, but this is just really damn cool. It’s exactly how I’ve always thought VW should bring back the Beetle. Four doors, EV, plenty of charm and some very clear parallels to the original.

Everyone on this site: “I want a fast, stylish-but-not-overstyled, 300-400hp car with RWD, a manual transmission, and relatively analog underpinnings. I also want it for cheap.”

The Eclipse Cross is far closer to the Aztek in appearance.

Looks more like the Eclipse Cross, but infinitely better

There will be someone...and that someone is me.  There is NO similarity.

Taking a small step into reality (the USPS mail van has a 20.8 mile daily mail route at 13.8 mph*), the Ford Transit EV, Mercedes Sprinter EV, and the Rivian RPV soundly trounce any of the semi-finalists. And don’t forget the Arrival van, being tested by the U.K. post office and UPS:

I honestly don’t know why Tesla has ignored that whole segment this long. They could have easily sold the USPS a fleet of electric vans. And since their whole skateboard is swappable they could just take the clownshoe shaped Model X body off and swap on a Van body.... instead of focusing on things like having it be

Well it’s a car so...

LAPD: “It’s got a cop motor, a 22kWh plant, it’s got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It’s a model made before range was a consideration so it’ll run good for short trips only. What do you say, is it the new Jalopmobile or what?”

Jalopnik: “Fix the cigarette lighter.”

Step 1: Buy Holden

I think the old BRZ/86 is better looking, but the bump in power is really nice. From photos I’ve seen, the new interior still looks like dog shit. Aesthetically, the Miata has this beat inside and out. It’ll be interesting to see how it performs.

Adrian van Hooydonk makes Chris Bangle look like Michelangelo

The Z Proto is SO MUCH cleaner all around, especially in the rear. The rear end of the 350/370Z has always been too bulky.

Dude what are you smoking. I see similar elements that are retained (vertical door handles, cup holder placement, center arm rest design).

Seeing the Z and the Supra side by side really makes it obvious that the Supra is a bit of an overwrought mess. The Z is refreshingly simple and straightforward. I don’t care if it is a heavily reworked 370z. I like it.

I have to do a continent switch for that.

My favorite solution to this for a while has been the C4 Corvette. No plate? You get this square that says Corvette in it and it looks pretty decent.
