@Fuji-kun: There's not a chance that engineers in the field have come up with this idea.

@cartersgoat: I'm not getting into whether or not the iPad is useful. I was just answering your general question. With money as no issue, I would buy an HP Slate when they are available. It is as simple as that.

@cartersgoat: I would buy a Slate once it is available. I don't have a pressing need for something between a laptop and an iPhone (both of which I have and use regularly). I do, however, recognize that the formfactor is an upgrade for most of the situations in which I use my laptop. I am just not ready to give up the

@rjp: Oh, shit. That's not a porn site anymore? When did that happen.

It would be really neat if they implemented an era web browser. Strip out anything new, and get it to render just the basic HTML tags.

It would be more world-changing than a crummy tablet.

@RainyDayInterns: Laptops. I was just coming up with an excuse for leaning forward. I made the unfortunate discovery of the plug placement when I was connecting some test hardware up to a power supply on the other side of the bench.

@matt_mcmhn: As far as I know, IKEA's hotcake business is in the shitter, so I agree with you. They wouldn't sell at all. You can already buy relatively flat power strips that can be mounted to things, and this concept doesn't help with cable management, just power strip availability.

@RainyDayInterns: That is great until you lean over to reach something in the back and unplug your computer, losing all your work. We have those in the optical labs at work and they've got the problem of being a just the wrong height when standing making things very uncomfortable to reach.

They probably just want to monetize more of the iPhone/iPod Touch revenue streams that are currently flowing to these other companies. If they want to be a bitchy little girl, they could make their ad framework the only approvable ad framework and shut out Google's AdMob. That would not surprise me.

There are a surprising number of stories tagged #underwear.

If the tablet ever comes out, it is going to be the biggest Apple let down ever because of how many features the media has been promising for it. Also, I hate virtual social environments. Real ones are better, and if that doesn't work, IM is simpler than a 3D world.

I remember how expensive TOSLINK cables were when I first got an optical receiver and had an optical device to connect. That was way back in the year 2002. At that point, I figured they were just charging an assload because it was somewhat new and not widely adopted. Lucky for me, the receiver came with one which I
