I like Hammer too…might even put them a notch above Universal just because Cushing and Christopher Lee are so great. They kind of fell into the same trap as Universal though… a solid foundation of classics (dracula, frankenstein, mummy) and then legions of uninspired sequels

I KNOW RIGHT? Why did they get rid of intermissions? Even watching old movies on vhs/dvd, it's so nice to have the intermission which kind of tells you it's ok to take a stretch break now. Plus there's usually fantastic music. Some of the classic epic-length movies i probably wouldn't have had the patience to finish

E Buzz, you've just described every movie Jackson's made since Fellowship.

all those slo-mo scenes in LOTR are especially brutal on rewatch. It's like "NOOOOOoooooooo. Frodo just got stabbed hooooooly shiiiiiiit" while you check your watch and wait for everyone to realize he's wearing a mithril vest.

+1 here. When their debut came out, I jumped all over it because of the band name and Titus film adaptation samples they used. But I really didn't like it. Then the Monitor came out and it got such glowing reviews that I tried again…and really didn't like it. oh well
