i really thought that WAS his name until very recently.  and then I heard someone say "mangum" and I thought to myself, "hah!  that's an odd pronunciation."  but yeah, they were totally right. i am dumb.

I'm surprised so many have favorites other than Domestica…to me, that was always the clear best album.  It benefits from a non-overbearing concept, some of the best guitar interplay of their career (Ted's first album with them, I believe), and some really gut-punching lyrics about how much bad relationships suck.

eh, the strokes at least make good music.  and presumably have better things to do than make documentaries about themsevles…like more drugs

this is a pretty good movie…one that should stand in the classic horror echelon with King Kong, Nosferatu, etc…but rarely gets put there.  Takashi Shimura alone makes this movie great.

hmm..heard Darkness on the radio today, and didn't even realize it was from a new album.  very fucking good track, even if it has the flaws of a lot of Cohen's post-80s work (super cheezy instrumentation, production).  but at least his voice is still incredible.

I like The Beast Below as well…not sure why it gets so much wrath directed at it, especially since it's followed by Victory of the Daleks iirc
