I am glad that FIRST is getting some press, but I wish they had showed more of FIRST, and less of the celebs that had no idea what FIRST was. The real celeb's at the event should be the kids who actually built the machines, and even have some idea of how they work.

I have attended FIRST events as a spectator. I had a great time watching the actual competitions. Sure I also wandered the pits and talked to the kids as they worked on their machines, the arena was in use only about half the time. I really enjoyed seeing nerdy kids (like I was when their age) getting cheered by

The original Mini. Look at all the things that copied the transverse engine/fwd packaging.

my last name, del papa, translates literally as the father. so when I try to ego surf, I get pages of articles in Italian, about this German guy with an elaborate hat.

Try ISBN 0-263-06159-7 otherwise known as "Effective Cycling" by Forester. Bike riding is more than knowing how to balance, and work the brakes.

I assume this is AC input only... For the old Lenovo, we got an additional brick that had cig lighter and airplane power socket input. It was about 3x the volume and weight as the ac-only unit. It was actually lighter to take an inverter (12v to ac) and the ac-only adapter.....

I have appeared on several episodes of a reality/competition show. (Junkyard Wars, aka Scrapheap Challenge). To make things more "interesting", it was filmed in the UK, primarily for the home audience. We were the first US team to appear.

Go find your copy of the Hackers Dictionary, and look for the entry on "Gorilla Hand". And this is before you consider people with impaired vision. At least with a traditional phone, you can operate it by touch.

The obvious one is a MIG welder. Have other styles of welder (stick, gas) but MIG is basically a hot glue gun for steel. Point and stick together. Thanks to the shield gas, the beads don't require cleanup.
