This has actually been proven to be a myth for the most part. There have been quite a few studies showing “minimal” or “insignificant” differences in batteries that have almost exclusively been fast charged vs level 2 charged. Link below cites a couple of those studies for anyone interested.

Evidence shows that at least with modern Tesla vehicles don't have battery degredation issues if supercharged most of the time. I was surprised to see this too. But slow charging most of the time is still good practice for most drivers.
