Yeah, I realized when I reread, I was reading the original comment I was replying to and flipped Carthage and Persia in my head. Persians had nothing to do with Sicily.

My bad. I just reread the comment I made, I was going back and forth between reading your comment and reading mine before posting. Where it says Persians, I meant Carthaginians. To the best of my knowledge, the Persians never fought over Sicily.

May be true, really don’t remember either, I was really just referring to the fact that the indigenous people of the areas ruled by Carthage would intermingle more than those that weren’t. Much easier for Carthaginian ruled Morrocans to settle in Sicily than it is for the Athenians to do the same.

Changes nothing, he just wanted to give you a history lesson. Or attempt to. A chunk of the responsibility for the mixed Sicilian background could also fall on the Carthaginians. Keep in mind their empire stretched over most of North Africa, from the Atlantic all the way in, to what’s now almost Libya, plus chunks of Read more

I feel like that’s a common thing for basically all Jews though. Not necessarily the email thing, but the running into people you’re related to. In the mid-Atlantic, where I grew up and live, it’s SOP to, in the event you run into a previously unknown Jew, try to figure out which Read more

I mean my keyboard backlight is always off on my mac. And while the point about the infinitely customizable dimming feature is a good one, I don’t know if it’s going to make a difference. Even the dimmest settle on my current MBP keyboard backlight is (I think) brighter than the dimmest setting on the screen. It Read more

You go into a dark room and turn your brightness on the main screen of your laptop down to the minimum level before it’s off, hold a flashlight along the top edge of the screen pointing down and it along the screen. Tell me there’s not glare and that the screen is easy to see/colors aren’t washed out, etc. etc. etc.

But you can turn the backlight on the keyboard OFF and still use the keyboard as a functional thing. Adding an OLED screen means it’s an always-on feature since when it’s off you won’t be able to see anything displayed on it, rendering the thing useless.

The light coming off of the OLED fucking keyboard strip you dunce. The thing about adding what’s essentially a second, small computer screen to the keyboard is it’s going to be required to emanate light to be able to see it no matter what the lighting conditions are in the room, because that’s how screens work.
