Nurx shouldn’t be controversial since all it fundamentally does is eliminate a visit to a gynecologist’s office

MD here ... I frequently hear patients tell me similar to what you said. To me, it’s analogous to saying “I’m a very cautious driver and I’ve never had a car accident; therefore I probably don’t need to wear a seat belt.”

I’m waiting for Trump or any of the GOP to talk about what the real issue is: we don’t have an illegal immigration problem, we have an illegal hiring problem. As soon as they go after the businesses, and leave the immigrants alone, then I’ll believe their motivations aren’t based on thinly veiled racism.

That’s the theory: that the body has seen most of the HPV it’s going to see by age 26 and the vaccine does little to offer additional immunity. That’s a broad brush to paint people with, however, so that’s why after age 26 it’s a patient by patient discussion.

I know, and it’s crazy. From ChoosingWisely: “Hormonal contraceptives are safe, effective and well-tolerated for most women. Data do not support the necessity of performing a pelvic or breast examination to prescribe oral contraceptive medications. Hormonal contraception can be safely provided on the basis of medical

Current vaccine guidelines for HPV don’t recommend restarting the series, so hopefully other women won’t have to go through what you went through. The current dosing schedule is 2 doses if started before age 15, and 3 doses if started after age 15. The number of catch-up vaccines is a function of when the vaccination

Probably correct — it’s a statistical game. Studies looking at HPV vaccine effectiveness failed to show a benefit for women between ages 27 and 45. There are *some* women it helped, but in general for *all* women we failed to show benefit. It’s the exact opposite when we look younger, as the younger the HPV vaccine is

It is still effective, no matter how long it was between your doses. No need to worry!

It depends on your age at the time of the first vaccination. If you were under 15, you only need two doses. If you were over 15, you need a 3rd dose. If you are over 26 now, you don’t need any more doses.

So, to defend your mom a little bit here, the HPV vaccination Gardisil is indicated up to age 26. The reason is that studies failed to show it had any benefit for women between 27 and 45. That doesn’t mean it might not help *a woman*, but we just can’t prove it will help most women. Your mom was just following the

Definitely push the issue, as the HPV vaccine is more effective the younger it’s given. It’s for that reason the vaccine schedule was changed and those under 15 need only 2 doses of the vaccine, while those over 15 need 3 doses. Tell your pediatrician you want it and don’t want to wait!

Unfortunately, you are 100% correct

Do what I’ve done: swear off cable/broadcast news and watch The Weather Channel instead. And reruns of NYPD Blue. Boom! Problem solved.

And Austin Carr is my white girl wasted spirit animal.

In healthcare we borrow something else from the military, a communication style called SBAR:

Air Droid is nice, but it kills my battery when using remote access.

100000% agree! It’s particularly bad in urban/suburban settings where there’s enough ambient light around so the driver *really* doesn’t seem to be disturbed by the lack of their own headlights. Plus my maniacal flashing of my own headlights to notify them gets lost in a sea of other cars.

This is not a prank. This is sociopathic. Assuming it’s true, why would he do this to another human being, let alone someone he supposedly cares about? My God I hope he never has children, because the torture he’ll bring to them is almost unimaginable.
